In the beginning, there was Fire.

Savage fire; destroying everything in it's path.

It consumed the earth.

Nothing was safe from its wrath.

The earth glowed yellow from the heat and intensity of the flame.

But suddenly, the glow started to fade.

Water came into being.

She saw what Fire had done.

The rage.

The destruction.

The hate.

The ashes of what had been.

And she ran in fear that she should be destroyed also.

As she ran over the embers of fire, steam rose, and the embers cooled to rock.

Air and Earth were born.

They did not see the rage of Fire.

They did not see the destruction of Fire.

They saw what Water had created with Fire.

They saw each other.

And they rejoiced.

The glow of the fire was gone, quelled and hidden underneath a thin layer of rock.

The rock was quickly hidden by Earth and Water.

And then, something amazing happened.

In the oceans; life.

Life created by Water.

Life warmed by Fire.

Life fed by Earth.

Life moved by Air.

Over time, the life changed; multiplied; learned.

Man evolved.

And man, like Fire, was savage and destroyed.

And man, like Water, created and nurtured.

But Fire became angry.

Man had learned how to control him; to use him.

And Fire wanted to destroy man.

And Water wanted to protect man.

So Water ran.

And she hid among man.

Earth and Air, fearful that Water should be also consumed, would not let Fire destroy man.

Not while Water was hidden.

So she hides still.

Afraid.

Watchful.

Alone.

Protecting man.
