Matt's been in a coma for five months now. I'm worried he won't wake up. I was driving to the hospital, when I got a call. "Hello?"
"Hello, Mr. Sharp?"
"That's me."
"Matthew Patrick is waking up." I slammed on my brakes.
"Really?! I'm on my way!" I hung up and hit the gas pedal. I was going to see Matt again!
I finally got to the hospital and ran in. "Matthew Patrick?!" She led me to the room he was in. She stopped right before the door.
"I have to warn you. He has amnesia. He may or may not remember you. If you're watching over him, try and help him remember some things. Important things in particular."
I slowly nodded. He didn't remember me. We walked in. Matt was looking around confused. I smiled. He was awake. "Hey, buddy. How're you feeling?"
He looked at me. He smiled. Did he remember me? "Oh, hi! May I ask what your name is? What my name is?" Nope.
"I'm Nate. We were pretty close. You're Matthew Patrick. I'll tell you more about yourself once we get you home." Matt just stared at me for awhile. "You alright?"
All he did was smile. "I'm great." I looked over at the nurse.
"When can we leave?"
"You can leave now if you wish." I nodded and grabbed Matt's hand.
"Come on, bud. Let's go home." I was expecting him to let go of my hand, but instead, he intertwined his fingers with mine. I looked at him, confused, but he seemed oblivious. He was too busy admiring everything.
I pulled him to the car, and we went home. I stopped the car and got out. Matt wasn't moving, so I opened his door for him. "It's beautiful." I nodded. We did have a nice house.
I started walking when Matt grabbed my hand again. This time, though, Matt rested a head on my shoulder. I just let it go. Matt needed the comfort. We walked inside and Matt went to the couch. He sat down and yawned. "Are you hungry?"
Matt nodded, so I went to the kitchen and heated up a pizza. I came back and Matt was watching TV. I handed him his pizza, and Matt replied with a "thank you."
Once we were done eating, I took Matt to his bedroom; he looked tired. As soon as we walked in, Matt jumped straight on his bed. I laughed. He was crazy. I started to leave so he could rest, when Matt said something. "Wait."
"What do you need?" He just simply patted the bed. I walked over and layed beside him. "Is something wrong?" I was surprised when he layed his head and hands on my chest and fell asleep. Normally, I would have pushed someone else off, but this was different. I enjoyed it. I ran my fingers through his hair, not even trying to stop myself. I looked down and saw Matt smiling. I layed my head down and fell asleep, Matt in my arms.
