Band Problems

I may be the only one who has this problem, but let me explain:
I am a percussionist, and play MANY different instruments in the percussion section. So basically, I switch to and fro between dozens of things that I can hit. So that means... That I get dibs on whatever I want to play amongst my fellow percussionists. And, as you probably don't know... I HATE mallet percussion. All you band geeks out there may know what this is, but I'll tell you anyways. You do know what xylophone, marimba, and/or bells are, right? If not, just look it up. That's the mallet section right there. Yeah, I hate those with a passion. I'm more of a... I don't know... 'Snare drum' and 'Marching Quads' type of girl; definitely NOT a mallet player. But, (with my great luck) the usual mallet player is no where to be found. My fellow percussionists in band don't know when the heck he'll be back at school. SO I GET STUCK WITH THE MOST HATED INSTRUMENTS IN PERCUSSION! Why, you may ask? To hell if I know! So that's how my magnificent days in band are going! Great times!
