Chapter 32: Back to School

-Monae POV-

I was already dressed with time to spare before going to school. It is 7:20AM and I know if I go to school right now none of my home girls are gonna be there. I grabbed my bag and then proceeded out of my bedroom. I closed the door behind me and then went down the stairs to see my mom getting ready to leave for work. "Morning and how come you going to work so early" I asked kissing her cheek. "Some woman having her wedding today so I have to do her hair. I also have to do her bridal party hair and make up" she said shaking her head. I laughed looking at her expression "Money is money Ma" I told her and she laughed agreeing. "Nichole and Jarid come on" she yelled so she can take them to school. "Savannah picking you up" she asked looking at me while gathering all her bags. "Nah I'm walking today" I said. "Why" she asked as the two came down the stairs. "You've been walking home a lot lately and I ain't feeling it" she said. "Its nothing Ma! I just feel like walking lately" I told her which is the truth. "Alright well call me when you get home later oaky" she said kissing my cheek. "Okay and have fun doing hair" I told her as she walked out of the door. I grabbed my bag throwing it over my shoulders. I looked out the window to see her pulling out of her parking spot. I walked over to the phone taking it off of the hook, I dialed Savannah house number.

Savannah: Hello

Me: Yo, you don't have to pick me up

Savannah: Why 

Me: Cuz JoJo pickin' me up

Savannah: Alrighty now! But aight am I droppin' you off

Me: Yeah

Savannah: Aight bye

Me: Bye

I put the phone back on the hook and heard the doorbell ringing. I turned around and headed out the kitchen, I grabbed my keys off the table and opened the front door walking out to meet JoJo. I locked the door going down the stairs meeting JoJo at his car. I slid into the passenger side putting my bag on the floor. "Morning JoJo" I said. "Morning" JoJo said in a odd tone but I ignored it. I closed the door putting on my seatbelt. He put his car in drive going down the block, "Wassup with you, you seem off" I asked. "Nothin' just thinkin' about something" He said looking out the rear view mirror. "Want to talk about it" I asked him. He ignored my question and just kept driving so I shrugged and kept quiet for the rest of the ride. Ten minutes later he pulled up to the school pulling into his regular spot. I took my seatbelt off and grabbed my bag but he stopped me before I could get out the car. So I sat back in my seat waiting to see what he has to say "My bad about the quiet ride" He said. "Don't stress it, its all good. Thanks for the ride though" I told him getting out the car. I closed the car door and as I was walking towards the school I saw Savannah's car pull up. So I walked over to our regular spot waiting. After two minutes or so I could hear them laughing about something as they walked closer. "Wassup Monae? Guess what I did Friday" Chloe asked. "Let me guess, you banged Dalvin huh" I said. She looked at me amused "Yeah how you knew? And missy here" Chloe  said pointing to Jade "Slept with K-Ci Saturday" She told me. "I had a feeling somethin' like that was going down" Savannah said. I just high fived Chloe and Jade for accomplishing something they both wanted to do.
