day two ~ happy monday! write a rant

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Hmm... what should I rant about? I usually have a ton of things I rant about in my head or in my diary... but today I have the biggest mindblank... So, I shall rant about my dance teacher and her wild ideals.

So, basically, I am a Polish dancer. Meaning that I do Traditional Polish Folk Dancing (yeah I know, why? but I actually really enjoy it). Anyways, we used to have a teacher, called Kate (translating Polish to English), but she was really mean and rude, and she used to swear at us heaps, and we kept on dancing the same dance and then she would get annoyed that we mess something up (mate, we keep doing the same thing over and over, we are sick of it already, kay? now can we do another dance?), and got even more annoyed about the fact we had like 3 dances to finish up and 1 to learn fully before PolArt (uhh, dance camp), and there week before it, the week I went away, the dance group was learning that one dance. So, anyway...

After dance camp, we didn't have dancing for..... 3 months? I think we started in April, where usually we start beginning of February, because Kate quit, and the commitee was looking for another teacher. So here comes Melissa, or Mel for short. Now, don't get me wrong, I love that chick, she's great, heaps nice, amazing teacher, yeah. I actually enjoy dance lessons now, it's great. One thing that sucks though (I should probably explain the costumes, but I'll just put it as an external link, so you can see it), Mel thinks and has this ideal that all the girls' skirts and aprons should be the same length, no matter how tall, short, skinny or chubby the girl is.

Now, that is bloody impossible. Let's say for me, I'm tall and skinny, so a dress would roughly come below my knees (the good length is between knees and ankles, not any shorter), where the same dress, on a short and skinny girl would go to her ankles. So it's not possible to match dresses/skirts to each girl to make everything equal length, because each girl is different. So unless Mel feels like remaking or buying individually made costumes for each and every girl (and they do cost a lot), there is no way in hell that her ideal can be reached.

Not all girls are the same height or size, which is good in my opinion, because, well, everyone has a right to dance, no matter what shape or size, and we have a variety of shapes and sizes at dancing, which allows us to respect each other (though I do have the nickname "shkinny").

So yeah, that's my rant about Melissa's ideals to do with costumes.... ^^ Hope you enjoyed

A/N: Click the external link for an idea of what the girls look like at dancing, I am the tall one near the middle, with a boy on each of my sides, and probably the shortest skirt. ^^

A/A/N: The youtube video is of my dance group's performance, as we were hosts for last PolArt (dance camp) so we performed as the "official opening" of the event :D
