I woke up to a ring of a bell, it was the door opening. As I looked again I saw it was two people, one was an adult and the other was a young child. I had seen many like them before but none ever came to me they always went for the Barbies and the Video Games. I am old, I've been here for a long time. Even though I know that they would not come for me I still hoped. They little boy ran past me and my heart dropped but then he skidded to a stop. He turned slowly and locked eyes with me. His facial expression changed to something I never thought I would ever see again. It was a smile.

The little boy jumped for joy. He yelled for his mom to come to him. His mother came running to only stop like he did and look at me with wonder in their eyes. The mother reached for me, her soft motherly hands wrapping around me and handing me to her son. He immediately squeezed me, which made me release that amazing squeak. The boy was so happy and so was I. The only rubber duck left and I was finally being adopted. The mom paid the man who worked their two dollars and the boy walked me out of the store, heading to his car.
