RIIIING! RIIIING!
6am.
Still under the covers, eyes closed, I search for the "OFF" button. As usual I fail. Gosh, I hate it. It means work. More work. Thing is, I acutally love my job. I'm a magazine editor in the fashion section and it's great. I love the atmosphere there, it's awesome.
My name is Alice Smith and I'm 24 years old. I live in a 2 bedroom flat in Central London with my best mate Ellie. I've known her since secondary school and she's been with me ever since. She works with me in "La Fesh" but she works on the main articles with the other "high class" workers. Always been an eager beaver, Ellie has.
I walk out of my purple four walls and make my way to the bathroom. On my way, I pass the living room and see that Ellie's already awake. Her pinstripe high waisted skirt and pale pink shirt has already been ironed extremely neatly and placed on the sofa.
"Morning, lazy bum", she says as she puts down her blazer. Her bleach blonde hair is tied up in a messy bun and her lovely ivory skin is wrapped in a bath towel. "Get in the bath then."
"Oh, Ellie, I don't know how you do it. Always eager to get to work, aren't you?"
She shakes her head and tuts at me like a mother giving signals to a child whilst she pushes me towards our black and white themed bathroom. That was my idea. This whole flat was designed by me, matter of fact. All Ellie did was call in the people to do it for us, so no, she's not good at everything.
I'm up and ready for work. I'm wearing my favourite outfit. My designer purple shirt, black skinny jeans and black and white converse. For some reason, I feel I should make an effort. I pick up my black sidebag, grab my keys and head for the door.
"C'mon Els, let's go!"
"I'm ready, it's you I'm waiting for."
And it's true. She is ready: Cup of coffee in one hand, long black coat and bag draped over the other. I smile weakly at her and open the door.
"TAXI!"
We stick out our hands and jump in the black cab.
"La Fesh: 385, Langsdale road, please"
The man nods his head and I turn to talk to Ellie. I sigh.
"I've been thinking lately."
Ellie has a confused, possibly annoyed look on her face. She sighs.
"What is it now?"
"It's my mum. I want to know how she is. Even though she doesn't deserve it after she left me; I'm envy the relationship you and your mother have. You know it's been 10 years exactly since she's gone."
"Aww, Alice."
She gives me a big hug and the taxi driver gives us a sheepish smile through the mirror. I ignore him.
"Of course I'll help you through it all. As soon as we get back from work we'll get right on it."

We pull up to Langsdale Road, Amy takes out £20 from her Prada purse and pays the man. He smiles with all his teeth and drives off. To get away from the peircing cold we both hurry towards a shiny silver and dull grey 20 storey building and enter like we're newcomers.
"Hey, Jill."
"Sam, you alright?"
"Soph, how's the hubby and the kids? Off to Egypt, eh?."
