Like every other workday, I woke up at 7 o'clock. As I looked out of the window, I noticed the rain. I wasn't surprised as this mid-October week, it's barely stopped raining. I made sure to dress appropriately as it was going to be cold and I'd just recovered from a cold.
From my wardrobe, I picked out a pair of black jeans, and an oversized camel-coloured jumper. My hair, I tied into a messy ponytail, keeping it out of my face for work purposes.
Once I was dressed, I made my way downstairs and into the kitchen. My mum was at work and my dad was still asleep, so I grabbed an apple as I walked out of the door.
Looking at my watch, I saw that work started in 2 hours. For others, that might seem like a good amount of time to get to work, but to me that meant I was running late. Every morning I had to drive 20 minutes to get to Luke's house to pick him up, then another 10 minutes to get to the train station. The train was normally 10/15 minutes late due to poor service, then once we were on we had to make 5 stops on top of the 30 minute journey it took to get across town. However, since Luke was at Michael's this morning, it took 5 minutes less than usual to pick him up. I rang Luke's mobile to make sure he was up.
He picked up after a couple of rings. "Hello?"
"Hey Luke, it's Lizzy. Are you ready?" I asked.
"Oh hey Liz, I forgot to look at my caller ID," he chuckled. "But yeah, I'm ready. Are you on your way?"
I nodded, but then realised he couldn't see me. "I just left." I told him
"Okay, see you soon." He said before putting the phone down.
I threw my phone on the passenger seat and continued down the road to Michael's. His house soon came into view and I looked around for a place to park. Unfortunately, there was another car in the place where I was parked last night.
I found a spot 4 houses down and walked up from there. I knocked on the door and within seconds it opened, revealing an exhausted-looking Luke.
"Come in, it's just me and Ashton since Michael and Calum went to the shop." He moved to the side and gestured for me to step inside. I followed him down the hallway and into what looked like the living room.
Immediately, my eyes landed on Ashton. He had clearly just come out of the shower as he had just a towel draped across his hips, and he was casually talking on the phone. I couldn't help but stare. Luke chuckled when he noticed.
"Like what you see?" He teased.
I scoffed, despite the fact that what he was saying was true. "No."
Luke rolled his eyes. "Yeah right, you're practically drooling."
"Shut up." I said through embarrassment. Luke began to laugh loudly at this, causing my blush to intensify. I muttered a quiet 'I hate you' before shoving him, unfortunately into Ashton who had just finished his phone call.
"Morning!" Luke chirped.
Ashton groaned in response. "Dude, it's way too early to be happy."
I stifled a laugh at Ash's morning status. He was clearly not a morning person.
I also wondered how Luke was so cheery all the time. Not once had he stayed over mine and woke up in a bad mood. This was both a blessing and a curse. Me, really not being a morning person, means I don't receive any benefits from Luke's non-stop talking in the early hours of the morning.
Luke pouted. "Sorry man."
Ashton chuckled lazily at this before getting up and wondering off into the hallway, to grab some food I assumed.
Once he was out of sight, Luke turned to me with a serious look on his face. "Why are you suddenly from London?"
"It's a really long story." I mumbled, embarrassed.
Luke gave me a stern look. "I have time."
I sighed in defeat. "Ashton dated Evie for 2 years."
"Evie? As in your sister Evie?" He asked, confusion evident on his face.
I nodded and Luke's eyes widened. He looked at me as though he couldn't believe it, which I understood as I felt the same.
"She didn't want me to meet Ash, and please don't ask why because I have no idea. One night, he stopped over and I accidentally bumped into him. At the time, I was only 15 and was very scared of the warnings Evie was giving me. That's why I said to Ashton that I was from London, so then I had an excuse for not seeing him again after that night." I explained.
Luke was the first person I had told any of that information to, besides my parents. Although I knew he wouldn't approve of me lying, I trusted him to not tell Ashton anything. I wanted to be the one who told him the truth.
"I won't say anything, but you seriously need to tell Ash soon." Luke told me.
I nodded my head in agreement. "I promise I'll tell Ash soon. I'll tell him about Evie and w-"
"What about Evie?"
A wave of panic came over me as I realised we were no longer the only ones in the room.
