Ms. Mercure showed up with Ms. Blake not long after. The latter was pale with glimmering white hair and bright red eyes, though instead of being soul piercing, they seemed relaxed. She was definitely the sensitive type, as Ms. Mercure had told us.

"H-hi..." Ms. Blake stammered, waving gently. "W-who are you?"

"Vesgate Lawton, Milan Tsumi, Celosia Quell, and Connor Clever," I answered. "We're part of the Kuranin investigation group."

Ms. Blake gasped. "D-do you know if Buddy is going to be coming by here?! I really want to see him!"

"Who is this Buddy person that we keep hearing about?" Celosia questioned.

"H-he's an Interpol agent. He said that he's working on this investigation with a bunch of other people," Ms. Blake replied.

"What does he look like?" I pried, hoping that I could find out the real name of an Interpol agent for once.

"He's a blonde with brown eyes," Ms. Blake responded.

"Looks like we just figured out X's real name," Vesgate commented, to which I nodded.

"W-wait! I just messed up!" Ms. Blake cried. She turned to Ms. Mercure and hugged her. "D-don't tell Buddy! I don't want him to hate me!"

Ms. Mercure rocked her back and forth gently, as if the two of them were in some sort of sisterly relationship. "It's okay, Clarith... I won't tell," she murmured.

"Now I see what Ms. Mercure meant by sensitive. She's softer than a cloud," Celosia snorted.

Ms. Blake pulled away from the hug and stared up at Celosia. Her eyes glossed over with tears. "W-why are you so mean?!"

"She didn't mean it!" I cut in, hoping that Celosia would shut her trap long enough for us to question this girl.

"Okay... If you're sure..." Ms. Blake nodded. She rubbed her eyes.

"If it's okay with you, could we ask you about the forensic science test? The one where you found out about one of the bodies not having fingerprints?" Vesgate asked.

Ms. Blake nodded. "Sure... Well, I got to do a test as part of my training to be a forensic scientist. I become one for real in a year. Anyways, I was assigned to the case and went to all of the crime scenes of the Kuranin," she began. "It wasn't until after the investigation had ended that I realized that I was missing a set of prints. I forgot to label them all, so..."

"How could you not notice that there weren't any prints on one of the victims?! That's such an obvious fact!!" Celosia roared.

Ms. Blake squealed in shock and attached herself to Ms. Mercure's arm. "P-please don't yell at me! I didn't mean to mess up!" Ms. Blake cried, looking close to tears.

"Ignore Celosia. She gets like that," I told her. "Is there any specific reason that you didn't notice that the prints were present on one of the victims?"

Ms. Blake nodded slowly. "Yeah... About... Um... Three years ago, I was attacked. Somebody hit me on the head really hard. I blacked out for a little while, and when I woke up, I was colorblind," Ms. Blake replied. "Because of that, I couldn't see the prints on the paper all that well."

"The prints didn't contrast well with the paper, I assume," Vesgate deduced. "Pale gray and white doesn't give much contrast for those who are colorblind like Ms. Blake."

"Yeah... I didn't realize what had happened until I reported back to Interpol with my findings," Ms. Blake continued. "I met with Mr. Q-"

"You mean that jerk who pushed us out of our own investigation?!" Celosia interrupted.

Ms. Blake stared in confusion for a few seconds before moving along. "He told me that there weren't enough sets of prints, so I realized that I had messed up a little bit..."

"Why were prints being collected in the first place?" I asked.

"Somebody claimed to have seen one of the victims walking around, and so we had to look into it to make sure that all of the victims were really dead," Ms. Blake replied.

"Because that doesn't always happen..." Ms. Mercure muttered, shaking her head.

"What was that?" Vesgate questioned.

"Nothing!" Ms. Mercure yelled, not realizing how loud she had whispered. I guess she's not good at that...

"Either way, we need to hear about who this witness is," I said. "Did you happen to catch a name of the person who saw one of the victims?"

"I think... Um... I forgot, but I think that it had something to do with Clever..." Ms. Blake replied.

I gasped dramatically. Milan flinched at how loud I had been. "What was their first name?! Do you remember?! What did they look like?!"

"W-why are you yelling?!" Ms. Blake yelled, most likely not noticing the irony of that.

"Victor Clever. I heard the name from Buddy yesterday. Are you happy?" Ms. Mercure cut in.

"We have to go to the Clever house! Back where the first crime occurred! That's where the witness lives!" I yelled, adrenaline rushing through me.

"Why are you getting so loud all of a sudden? You really don't have to yell," Ms. Mercure groaned.

"I'm related to the witness, whoever it is! I can take you to where they live now! Let's get going!" I exclaimed.

"I-I guess I'll see you guys later..." Ms. Blake stammered, waving gently as we left her and GatherLaw Incorporated behind.

"No thanks for us talking to you or anything?! Thanks a lot!" Ms. Mercure yelled after us before we disappeared from sight.

Too bad we didn't know that 'later' would be much sooner than anticipated.
