   "So why can't you go drinking with me again "Alex said when he showed up that night at Deville tiny cottage.  

 "Trust me I would if could, but Ferula is testing me on wards tomorrow, I already failed twice to try to make a successful ward. "

"I thought studding magic was supposed to be fun. "

"Doing magic is fun, studding magic is all memorization and meditation, it's beyond boring.  Now off you go before I lose my resolve."

"Fine" Alex said as walked out the door

"Till Penny I said Hi."

"Actually her name is Jenny."

"O, well in my defense I had a lot to drink on Harmony night." She said as she slammed the door be hide him.  

That night Deville dreamed of being chased by dark wolves through a haunted forest, of a prisoner desperate to escape, of warrior with an old and rusted sword and a shild with three brached tree.

    "Please, you must believe me I did not do this thing." The accused man pleaded. knelling before  Meriel who stood before the cathedral's gate.

    "If you are as innocent as you claim why are you here? Meriel  ask skeptically. "Shouldn't you be proving your innocence before judge at  a court house?"

    "As you know Noble Knight of the Oder the nearest court house is a four day journey by horse.  I fear I would not live to make it the court house. " 

  "Who is it that you think means you harm?"

   " Mavent, he is the brother of the man I have been accused of killing. He has been my rival since I married the woman that he loved."

"Shouldn't your fellow villagers have restrained you and escorted you to the court house under there protection?"

  "He has riled up my neighbors and now they call for my death.  If thy had your their way I would never live to give my cause in court.  Please I beg you in His name grant me sanctuary. "

   "Very well, I grant you sanctuary in are cathedral. Me and My fellow knights of the order will protect you until the day of your trial. I also give my word that will we send knights to gather whatever witness you can name to testify at your trial."

   "His name be praise." The villager said in relief  . 

   As Meriel began instructing  the other knight when one approached her.

"Member Meriel the elders have asked for you". One of her fellow knights called from the court yard.

    Meriel, would have been lying if she said she wasn't little nervous when she stood before the counsel of elders. She didn't know why she felt nervous, she been, after all, had been model knight, perhaps it was because the whole of counsel was gather here. The counsel of elders were retired knights who were to old to serve. They mainly spent there time, meditating, reading, praying, and train other knights. They this took up a lot of there time and they rarely all were available to attend the counsel gathering. Not once that she could remember had the entire counsel gather  in the meeting room, even when she had been promote to captain there hadn't all been gathered.

   One of the elders clear his throat "Member Meriel, you been amongst us for the last seven years, beginning as squire at the age of fourteen, reborn as a knight three years later, and finally becoming a captain last year. During your  serves, your have been a most dedicate, and selfless knight, of course we all know of your skill in battle.  It is because of these things that we have chosen you.
