Scars

Naive and unaware

Most innocent of all

Yet the price they had to pay

Was a shattering freedom fall.

Smiles wiped off their faces

Replaced with misery and grief

The echo of thrashing bombs

Reflected no relief.

Her sorrow mirrored in her tears

Each drop illustrated the loss of her joy

Devastating fear still present within her

A lonely life with not a thing to enjoy.

Her loved ones now still and lifeless

She had one wish, for this to end

As war left her nothing but a fatal heartache

One that is impossible to mend.
