I was listening to Pony read "Gone With The Wind" while sitting on Johnny's lap.
He was readin' about Gallant gentlemen, and I thought about how no matter how gallant they were, Johnny was more of a gentleman than them.
I looked up at him and smiled.
he blushed, Pony looked up from his book and gave us a look
"you guys listening or what?" He said. I laughed, it was noon on a Sunday,
"we were Pony," I said.
"I'm gonna go home and get a few things, you can wait in the Lot if ya want," Johnny said to me.
I came with him, but when I heard a scream I walked up to his house and swung the door open.
"who's the broad?" his mother asked.
"m-my gi-girl," he said.
"JOHNNY YOU GOT A GIRL?" His father asked.
"Yes He did sir," I said.
Johnny held me,
"And She ain't a broad," He said.
"you're thay Curtis girl ain't ya?" His mom asked.
"Y-Yes," I said.
"shy thing you are," they told me.
they were sober at the time, "I don't like you beating Johnny," I told them firmly "he's afraid of his own shadow because of you!"
Johnny gave me a look that screamed "NO!"
I Waited for the worst, but instead, they hugged Johnny and me, and for the first time in a while, Johnny had a loving moment with his family.
"Thank you baby, thank you," Johnny said.
"no problem.."
"you're welcome anytime.." they told me.
they also asked to meet MY parents, which is when I felt tears..
Johnny held me close to him.
"m-my parents are gone," I said.
"Oh my, we're sorry," they yelled.
I told them it was okay, me and Johnny left. we started school in the morning. the socs would be there..
