"How could you do this!?" Lisbon yells at her brother John. He's been busted with drugs again.
"Who are you to lecture me?" He spits back.
"I work with the CBI, I'm your sister I have every right to lecture you!" Lisbon yells back.
Jane places his hand on the small of her back. Trying to calm his Angry Princess. They're sitting in Lisbon's office. Jane doesn't like seeing Lisbon this way but he knows he can't change the fact she's so upset. This is a family matter, he's actually surprised she hasn't tried to kick him out of the office.
"I mean come on John! How could you be so stupid!? You said you would stop" Lisbon says exasperated.
"Well I changed my mind!" John says.
"It was part of your parole! now you're going to end up going to Jail!" Lisbon yells.
Her eyes brimming with tears, she's not just angry and upset with her brother. She's frightened for his safety, she can't protect him if he's in jail. She's suppose to protect her little brothers. How can she do that when he'll be in jail.
Jane sees Lisbon is struggling and pulls her into a hug. At first she resists against him but caves in and lets Jane comfort her. He can't help but feel his heart break slightly. Lisbon doesn't deserve this. He rubs her back softly in kisses her head.
"John, your Parole officer is outside this office waiting for you. I suggest you leave" Jane says softly as he holds Lisbon close. John gets up and leaves his sister's office.
"Teresa" Jane whispers and pulls her head up off his chest.
"You're going to be okay" Jane says sincerely, showing as much honesty as he possibly can.
"What if he goes to Jail and something goes wrong? I've lost my parents, I can't lose one of my brothers too" Lisbon says.
"I know Lisbon but no matter what happens, I'll be here for you. You can only hope for the best" Jane reminds her that this situation is out of both of their hands.
"Come on my angry princess, we have a murder to solve" Jane says smiling.
Lisbon rolls her eyes at him, she makes it out as though she hates her nickname but in reality she loves it. They walk together to the Bullpen, Jane slightly bumping Lisbon to get her smiling. She started to smile and laugh the slightest and push Jane back.
"You're annoying" Lisbon says to Jane as she smiles softly.
"So what do we have?" Lisbon asks the group.
"Young boy found on a football field. He was found the groundskeeper" Cho informs them.
"Do we know what his name is?" Jane asks.
"His name is Tyler Hophner" Rigsby chimes in.
"Alright, Cho and Rigsby do a background check on the boy, Van Pelt I need you to bring the groundskeeper in for questioning while Jane and I go talk to his parents" Lisbon says.
Jane and Lisbon walk to the lift, everything is quiet. Lisbon feels slightly awkward after their moment in her office. She hates showing vulnerability. She glances up at Jane. He's rocking on his toes like he alway does. Jane can feel Lisbon watching him, he looks over at her and smiles softly.
"Jane please don't" Lisbon begs quietly.
"Don't what?" Jane asks Lisbon. He doesn't understand what he's done to upset her.
"Don't pity me, don't walk on egg shells around me. I would rather you act like you" Lisbon says to Jane.
"On any other day would I not stand here with you in silence, rocking on my feet and smile at you?" Jane challenges.
"Yes but-" Jane cuts her off.
"See, then I'm not treating you any differently. You're just reading this incorrectly" Jane smirks.
"Okay I stand corrected. You're just as annoying as ever" Lisbon says as she walks out of the lift.
Jane shakes his head and laughs to himself softly. At least she isn't as sad as she was before. He walks out after her and catches up in no time. One of the advantages of Jane having longer legs then Lisbon.
"Teresa, do you even know where we're going?" Jane asks as Lisbon tries to follow the GPS.
"Oh like you know where we're going" Lisbon retorts. Jane just smirks.
"Take the next left then at the second set of lights turn right" Jane says smugly. Lisbon looks at him quickly with a flat stare but does as Jane says.
"Know it all" Lisbon mumbles as she parks her car outside the boys parents house. Jane grins a smug grin as he leans in, his breath on Lisbon's neck causing her to shiver slightly.
"You know you love me Teresa" He whispers before walking ahead of her. Lisbon blushes and smiles slightly.
"Mr and Mrs Hophner, we're with the CBI" Lisbon says.
"Oh god what's happened?" Mrs Hophner asks as she clutches onto her husband.
"Could we come in please?" Jane asks.
"Uh, yeah sure" Mr Hophner says as he helps his distressed wife back into the house.
"I'm sorry, but we've found Tyler's body" Lisbon says. This is always the hardest part.
"W-What do you mean?" Mrs Hophner says.
"I'm sorry, but he's been murdered" Jane says.
They watch as Mr and Mrs Hophner break down in front of them. Lisbon doesn't have the heart to question them now so she schedules an interview with them tomorrow. As Jane and Lisbon leave a little boy, around six runs out to them.
"Did you find Tyler?" The little boy asks. Jane kneels down to the boys height.
"Yeah we did. What's your name?" Jane asks.
"James. When's Tyler coming home? He promised to take me with him next time!" The boy says in distress.
Before Jane or Lisbon could question the young boy. Mr and Mrs Hophner are at the door yelling out to the small boy. As the boy runs off into the house, Jane and Lisbon look at each other with a mixture of emotions, curiosity, worry and confusion.
"There is most definitely something going on in that house" Jane says as him and Lisbon walk to the car.
"We really need to get a background check on those two" Lisbon says.
"Cho, I need a background check on a Mr John Hopnher and a Mrs Willow Hophner" Lisbon calls out as her and Jane walk passed the Bullpen as they walk toward Lisbon's office.
"Are you going to go to John's court date?" Jane asks Lisbon once they are in Lisbon's office.
"I don't know Jane" Lisbon says.
"Teresa, I think you should go. He's still your brother" Jane says cautiously.
"But I don't know how I'll react. I mean he's my little brother but he gets under my skin so much" Lisbon says.
"Do you want me to go with you?" Jane asks.
Lisbon looks up at Jane with an unsure look. Jane gives her a reassuring smile.
"I don't want to get in the way of any plans you've made" Lisbon says.
"You're not. Teresa, I'm always going to help you" Jane says smiling.
"You sure?" Lisbon asks.
"One hundred percent" Jane assures.
"Thank you Jane" Lisbon says. Jane smiles and walks to over to wear Lisbon is sitting behind her desk. He kisses Lisbon's cheek, loving the fact that she's blushing.
"Anything for you my angry princess" Jane says smirking before walking out of Lisbon's office.
