Glass as cold as the air of an oncoming blizard, rivaled only by the deathly pale hands that graced its suface, stood proud in a daunting frame etched with the words of a language long forgotten.
The mirror of Erised.
How is it that it is still here?
Eyes of emrald peered into the recreation of his most desperate desires wishing fo- the two green jewels widend. Another face had joined the sea of smiling corpses.
Sirius...
A longing so deep rose up from within the depths consuming everything in sight. Emrald eyes shone with bitter, salt filled tears begging to be released.
No!
He could not think of him - not like this. He would not want his godson to shed useless tears. He would want him to simle with joy, to bubble with laughter.
But it was so hard. Smiling. How could one smile when there was nothing to smile about? The closest thing the young boy had to a father was gone. Other thoughts surfaced, triggerd by the waves of emotion that swept through him. His friends standing by him, Dumbledore watching over him, Sirius dying. All because of that name. That dreaded name.
The boy who lived.
His hands clenched, fists pushing against the glass in a helpless fustration.
No one knew him. No one knew Harry. All they saw was the hero destined to save the world. So he had been what they wanted. Turning down a handshake, persuading a hat - all so he would be the perfect hero.
His anger began to falter and loneliness began to seep in through the cracks. In the end he was alone. Surruonded by gullible idiots that adored him, yet he could confide in none.
He wanted an escape. He needed one.
Far, far away to a place where non know my name.
And then the ice melted.
