A/N: The first scene is about cutting so I'm warning you in advance. Sorry if you have gone through or are going through tough situations where you resort to cutting.
One...Two...Three...I recline back and enjoy the sweet bliss of pleasantness.Swirling colors shoot from behind my eyelids as feelings of warmth and joy seize me up like a tidal wave. My tension fades away within seconds of the first swipe of the blade. This moment is the only thing that i look forward to at the end of the day. One swipe for my loneliness to go away, two for my pain, and three to see if I can blow out my flame for good. The white marble slowly gives way to a vivid red that moves toward the drain in swirls. As the flow of red blood slows down the pain and anguish crawls forward in hopes of getting me to drive the blade a bit deeper across my wrist than the first couple of swipes. Tears play tag down my face as i lean against the counter.
The tears mix in with my falling blood as i watch the three cuts. I've done it again and i couldn't stop it even with the suggests that the therapist said to do. The blood's flow slows down to barely a trickle. In a haze, I begin to bandage my new items to my collection. I wipe down the counter to make sure that there is no evidence of what i did here today.
When all the evidence of my sins were washed away i balled up all of my used bandages and walk down the stairs to the kitchen. I open the pantry and throw out the wad of gauze. I have the house to myself for a couple of more hours so i go to my room and find my phone and earphones so i can listen to music. I lay down on my bed and fall asleep listening to Evanescence.
The Next Day....
I'm completely normal...I'm completely normal.....I'm completely normal.....I'm completely normal...
That's my mantra as i walk in to the red brick school with my backpack hand. I don't know why people think I'm a freak nor do I know why I have depression when I have a perfectly ordinary middle class family. I was first diagnosed when I was 12 soon after I had my first visit from Mother Nature. The doctors say that I'll grow out of it when I get past 20 but I don't think so. I walk through the front doors as I wonder what I'll have to endure today.
As my locker swings open, the rich kids walk in like they own the place. They strut their way down the hall knocking books and kids out of their way before they go to their lockers. There are three rich popular people, Aria and Alex Oliver and Max Farmer. Aria and Alex are identical red headed twins but Alex has a slightly crooked nose from when he played state football game last year and the other team's quarterback took a swig at him, claiming that Alex had cheated.
Max has brown hair with green eyes framed by little freckles all across his cheekbones and nose. They think that they are so high and mighty. How can you be high and mighty in a run down 70 year old high school?I turn back to my locker and grab my math book for my first period then shut my old blue/grey locker.
"Ember! Wait up!" Someone screams from down the hall. There is the sound of running and next I'm being tackled to the ground. I hit my head on the ground, face first, and little black and white spots fill my vision.
