Genie in a bottle

The warm arabic night seemed everlasting as the young man walked through the desert. Sand would occasionally blow up into the wind and blind him for a moment. The only guidance he had was the brightly shining stars on the night sky. His throat is sore, lacking water and slight dehydration had already made him see a Fata Morgana or two. The first was his family...

Or the small things he could remember about them. He had been a street rat for 15 years - and he's now 20. He remembered when he was five. He had a home, a mother, father and two younger siblings. But the Fata Morgana only reminded him of his family's tragedy. He was never rich, or anyone important. But he was happy. Until one day his father disappeared, his mom went under depression, and the town itself burned down because of a raid. And only he escaped. Ever since then he had been living in the biggest most beautiful city, filled with rich culture.

And even the home of the sultan and his daughter (imagine acrabar from Aladdin) and him? He was living in an abounded old, close to falling apart building. Forced to steal for food and run from the royal guards almost everyday. He was alone. And 3 days ago, the guards succeeded in capturing him. He was to be executed the next morning... But he escaped and now...

He's walking with no where to go, lost in the Arabian desert.

*hours later*

The dreaded morning sun began rising, and with it the heat. Our main character held his hand over his eyes trying to see anything around him. Hopefully a water source, but what was the chance of that? Seeing nothing, he clutched his head and fell down to his knees. Tears began falling down his face, down on the hot sand. Which by the way was burning his knees. The sand absorbed the water, almost as if it was thirsty it self.

He screamed. No words where said in This scream, only pure, raw emotion which was a cry for help. He looked up panting for air. What he saw made his eyebrows furrow. It was a camel standing a few meters away from him... Was that always there. It's well camouflaged, since it's fur goes right into the sand... But it was a ride... A hope. He ran towards it. All that mattered in this moment was that camel.

It turned around and walked the opposite direction when he was too close. This went on for about 1 hour. He was not giving up. Luckily for him. Because the camel let him to an oasis. A beautiful, green and water filled oasis. Tears of joy flooded his eyes. And he ran down to the small lake, immediately scooping up the cold water. He spent half of the day just drinking and eating.

When finally the camel that let him here showed up for a drink. He slowly walked towards the large animal. All it did was look at him. Simply starring at him, he decided to say "thank you, friend... For saving me" when he finished the sentence, the camel nodded, and returned to drinking.

He turned around smiling happily as he went over to the nice cold shadow that he was lying in before. When a little light caught his attention... He looked towards the leaves where the light came from. There seemed to be nothing there. Although curiosity took over and he walked slowly towards the big leaves.

Moving the plants aside he found what caused the little light. It looked like a golden lamp, which where reflecting the Suns light. He slowly dug it up from the sand. He turned it around slowly, inspecting every inch of it. Yep... It was made of pure gold. The craftsmanship was absolutely beautiful. If he sold this to the right person. He could make a fortune! He rubbed the sand away on the lamp. Trying to get a better look at it without all the sand would be great.

But a surprising thing happened when he did rub the lamp. It began to shake violently. He dropped it immediately afraid of what just happened. Maybe it's cursed! He thought. But not soon after a blue-ish purple with golden sand corns began smoking out of it. The sand or dust, flew around him and landed in front of the lake.

The camel also looked towards it. The camel seemed afraid but yet it stayed, like it was hypnotized by the small tornado shaped dust flying by it. The dust grew bigger, still in the shape of a tornado. Although quickly it looked like it exploded and the dust flew high in the wind, only to fall down like rain.

He took his hand up catching the dust which then disappeared in the palm of his hand. Even the camel tried eating it, by sticking it's tongue out. He looked towards the place the tornado once was. But in it's stead stood a beautiful young girl. Looking to be at the age of 18 she was looking around her in awe. Almost like this was her first time ever seeing the world.

But where did she come from? She finally noticed him standing there. Now that they had locked eyes he was hypnotized. What is going on ? She had almost glowing green eyes and she had purple hair pulled into a ponytail on the top of her head, with golden accessories.

What stood out was the two golden bracelets on each of her wrists. They kinda reminded him of handcuffs only fancier.

She was wearing a purple dress that matched her hair, with a golden belt with green jewels imbedded in it (the jewels also the color of her eyes).

"W-who are you!?" Said the young man. Afraid that this beautiful girl just appeared in front of him thanks to the smoke. Maybe it's another Fata Morgana!

"Are you the one who rubbed the lamp?" Her sweet voice sounded like the purest music. She raised her eyebrow waiting for him to answer. "Uhm y-yes! It was me... Sorry! I didn't mean to !" She looked confused. Then a thinking face and lastly an expression of realization.

"I am a genie. My name is Najila you have found me, so I will grant you 3 wishes. You can wish for anything and I will give it to you" he looked at her with wide eyes... Was this actually happening ? First his life is saved by a camel, then he finds a genie!? He wasn't complaining . But the gods must be on his side today.

"I am Shahmeer, and I can wish for anything??" Najila nodded giving a friendly smile. "Wait, there are 3 things you can't wish for...

Nr. 1 : you can't wish for anyone to love you.

Nr. 2 I will NOT raise anyone from the dead! It is simply just terrible and I am not allowed to mess with the forces of death!

Nr. 3 you can't wish for any more wishes! You have three and that is it!

"Got it?" Shahmeer nodded, thinking about what he should use his precious wishes for. The first thing that popped into his head was the palace.

"So what does your heart desire the most?" Najila asked patiently.
"I wish to become rich, and that I can have a new status... A status that will make everyone adore me instead of treating me like a.... Well like street rat" Najila looked Shahmeer in the eyes, "are you sure this is your wish?" Shahmeer nodded. He was certain this was what he wanted. Najila smiled at him "your wish is my command, so shall it be" she clapped her hands three times in front of her self. Suddenly the purple/blue/golden smoke enveloped him, the genie and the camel...

When the smoke vanished. He found himself on the top of an elephant, with the clothes of a prince, and at least 200 servants, each holding a vase of gold. Behind them where tigers, camels, monkeys and any other exotic animal that only the richest man could afford. Besides the elephant he was sitting on was the camel, that saved his life. And Najila was sitting calmly on the saddle. The smoke enveloped her once again. Then she appeared in front of Shahmeer. "Is this to your liking, my prince?" She smirked slightly as she gestured towards everything he now owned. All Shahmeer could do was nod. And smile gratefully at her. "So what do you want to do now? Will you use your second wish?" Shahmeer thought about this. But said no. "I want to be cautious about the wishes I use" he answered truthfully. The genie nodded in acknowledgment. Then explained "if you don't need me anymore then I will return to the lamp. If you ever need me again. Just call for me or rub the lamp" Shahmeer nodded and looked for the lamp. It was hanging securely on his belt. Safely hidden, behind his cape. He held it towards her, Najila smiled and wished him good luck. She then turned into smoke and returned to her bottle.
