My lungs burned with every breath of cold December air I sucked into my chest. Beep...beep...beep my phone rang with the notification of a new day. The killers blasting through my head phones, the sound pumping in circles round and round in my head as my trainers rhythmically hit the icy grass. I always liked running at night, I had always had an obsession with how silent it was, how the darkness seemed to soak up all the busy sounds of the day, how the stars shined bright. I could just run into oblivion while my thoughts slowly slipped out of my head and into the empty branches of the carefully listening trees. Where no one could disturb me, when my breath clouded round my head like a cloud of smoke. So I ran and ran and ran. It was only when I stopped and crouched down to tie up my lace that I realised just how far I had run, I was standing in the middle of an empty park there was a bench to my left and trees surrounding me. I stopped my music to check maps on my phone, better to be safe than sorry especially at night. When I knew the route back home I put my phone away, but just as I turned around I heard the snap of a branch from my right, my head snapped towards the noise peering into the trees, there wouldn't be anyone out now would there? I shook my head "I must be going crazy" I whispered to myself. I took another deep breath clicked my music back on and set off back in the direction of home.
I was almost at the entrance of this newly discovered park when out the corner of my eye I saw a blur of black rush past my body. A second later the wind desperately trying to catch up with whatever had just past me rustled through my clothes and disturbed my hair. I stopped for a second time and clicked my music off once again to find silence, only disturbed by the slight crack of the empty winter branches. I did a 360 scanning the park to see what it was that had moved with such speed. Nothing. I looked again maybe it was a bird? I thought, yeah, just a bird I really should be getting home my mind is playing tricks on me. Just as my thumb was travelling down to press the play button on my favourite song a great force came into contact with my hand, and the iPod clutched tightly within. Causing said iPod to fly from my grasp and into the tree easily ten metres away. A gasp left my lips as the headphones were torn from my ears. I had no time to react to what had just happened, not even a moment for my eyes to flick to where the hit had come from before my body had somehow been thrown into the same tree my iPod had met its end. My head slammed into the thick trunk and I slid down to the ground, my vision went black but returned quickly only to see a pair of eyes staring back into mine but these weren't just any eyes. No. these eyes were wide and angry and a deep, rich blood red. My breath caught in my throat as I took in this stranger's breath taking features. He had a thin dainty face, thick light brown furrowed eyebrows, a small, thin nose, sharp cheek bones and a jawline that looked like it could cut, and his hair, his hair was just lighter than his eyebrows (which were still furrowed) it was short and shaped his face, he had a sweeping fringe with a small curl at the end with fitted rather nicely around his cheekbone. Everything about this stranger's face was stunning, however when my eyes flicked back to his, my opinion on this stranger was immediately switched back to one of paralyzing fear. When he spoke the sound resembled a growl yet, at the same time his mouth seemed to glide over the words like silk.
"well, well, well" he said with a smirk plastered onto his mouth his eyes still trained on my own "what do we have here?"
I whimpered in fear as he licked his lips
He chuckled "don't worry love, I'll make this quick"
My mouth opened to scream but before a sound could make its way up my throat his hand which had previously been holding my shoulder back against the tree covered my mouth as his smirked turned down into a frown.
"now, now don't want people hearing do we?"
I made no sound
"do we" he growled pushing my shoulder harder into the tree
I shook my head no
"good" he said as his frown turned back up into an amused smirk
"now where were we?"
His hand moved my head to the side as he leaned his head into my neck. I was unable to move still frozen in shock and fear. His lips came into contact with my neck as he left a soft kiss to the protruding vein. My heart beat somehow managed to increase in speed as it did I heard an inhumane growl erupt from deep in his throat. His mouth opened on my neck and something cold and sharp grazed my neck as a gasp escaped my lips, before my brain could wonder what it was that had just made contact with my skin two sharp pains erupted in my neck. At that moment he once again covered my mouth with his hand as I screamed as loud and hard as I could. The pain was unbearable, I could feel my blood slowly draining from my neck as my vision clouded over and my thoughts grew confused, my scream faded down until no sound escaped my lips. As my vision went black I felt the pain lessen more and more by the second. But before the pain could disappear completely and I could fall into the embrace of the darkness reaching out for me, I felt him pull away. My vision cleared slightly as I saw him bite into his wrist, I didn't have time to wonder what he was doing before he had thrust his wrist into my mouth and his thick, hot blood flowed down my throat. I felt my senses quickly returning back to me but as my senses strengthened so did the throbbing pain my head it relentlessly pulsed harder and harder with every hit. I couldn't take the pain anymore and my body did the only thing it could to take the pain away, my body slumped into the stranger's open arms as I fell into unconsciousness.
