//February 24, 2030. Hospital Room No. 801, 2:23 PM//

"Hey... Are you awake?"

My vision was blurry when I came to. I rubbed my eyes, hoping that some variation of sight would come my way. Thankfully, it did, so I stared at my surroundings, hoping I could come to a conclusion about where I was.

It looked like a hospital of some sort. My leg didn't hurt as much I as I remember it had before I lost consciousness, so I assumed that the cut on my lower leg was why I was here. It had felt pretty deep...

Eventually, my eyes locked on a person sitting above me, leaning over me like a concerned parent. It was a girl with bright purple eyes. The top of her hair was a beige color that faded to orange, followed by beige yet again and finally red. She wore jeans and a green hoodie as she looked over me kindly.

"M-Ms. August...!" I whispered, slowly pushing myself up to a sitting position. "W-what are you doing here? I didn't think that you would want to see me again after-"

Ms. August shook her head. "I saw you collapse outside the place I was staying... Remember that weird yellow house? I was in there. You passed out right outside, and since your leg didn't look very good, I figured that I should help you. As thanks for helping me get away," Ms. August explained.

I looked down at my leg and gasped. It was bandaged up, but at least it wasn't bleeding anymore. I chose to call that a blessing. There weren't many, being a wanted criminal and al-

"Y-you have to get away from here!" I cried to Ms. August. "Please! Interpol thinks of me as a criminal, and if they find out you helped me-"

"Calm down. They don't know I'm alive," Ms. August assured me. "Now, you should go back to sleep."

"I can't now! What if they come for me?! There's no way I'd be able to escape with my leg all messed up like this!" I yelled.

"What even happened with Interpol? I didn't hear anything about them having you in custody or anything," Ms. August frowned.

"Well... They think that I'm a member of the Kuranin now!" I yelled. "They don't know that I'm not one of those monsters, so they took me into detention for it!"

"And you got away?" Ms. August asked.

I nodded. "Yeah... I got hit with a tranquilizer and cut my leg open pretty badly, but I still got away. Though if they catch me here with you, you're done for!"

"Relax. I won't let them get me, okay?" Ms. August placed a hand on my forehead, as if checking to make sure I wasn't insane with fever.

I smacked her hand away. "I'm fine."

"You certainly don't look fine to me," Ms. August frowned.

"Then you need to get your eyes checked, Ms. August," I told her, trying to push past her.

Ms. August forced me to sit back down. "You can't get up yet. End of," Ms. August said demandingly.

"I need to get out of here before the Kuranin or Interpol realize that I'm here and come after me," I said to her quickly. "Don't you understand the dangers of this?"

"Of course I know how risky this is," Ms. August said defensively. "I nearly got killed because of them. It's dangerous. I'm well aware of that."

"And you're still comfortable being around me even though that's the worst idea anybody could ever have?" I questioned, crossing my arms. "Ms. August, the Kuranin sent me to... To..."

"But you didn't kill me. You helped me get away from them instead. You're not like them," Ms. August assured me.

"You're being stupid by letting me stick around here. Absolutely terrible," I told her.

Ms. August sighed. "You're clearly not going to just let me help you, so what about we make a deal so we're both happy?"

My ears perked up. "I'm listening."

"You stay here until at least the end of the day and the you can go home. How is that?" Ms. August proposed.

I paused for a few seconds. "I'm not going home, though. The Kuranin is planning a murder attempt, and I have to stop it before things go bad."

"When is it happening? Who's the victim?" I could have sworn I heard Ms. August's heart pound louder.

"I don't know their real name. It's one of those know it all types from Interpol. And since this whole mess is partially my fault, I need to find a way to put it to an end. For good." I sighed.

Ms. August sighed as well. "If you really have to do this, I guess that there's no way I'll be able to stop you."

"I'm afraid not," I said, beginning to mess with my hair. I hadn't noticed how knotted it was until now.

"In that case, I guess that I need to wish you good luck. With how good you are at saving people, you'll do great," Ms. August smiled.

"Too bad I wasn't able to save any of the other victims of those stupid criminals..." I muttered, shaking my head.

I laid back down and stared at the ceiling, beginning to count the minutes until Ms. August would allow me to enjoy the freedom that I had gotten by running away from Interpol.

Though I knew I had no choice.

I had to return tomorrow.
