She was lost..
Just like me
That skinny little girl was
Just. Like. Me.
I could see her bones though her skin
I could see the pain on her skin
I wanted to be strong for her
Because she couldn't be strong for herself.
I pitied the little girl who looked just like me
She sat on the the steps not moving
It seemed like she had never moved from that spot
When I looked into her eyes
I could see eyes that looked like they haven't cried for awhile
She was brave.
Brave just like me.
I wanted to yell at those who didn't pay her no mind
Who just walked past like she wasn't even there
It made me mad of their lack of awareness
Don't they see the damaged little girl
With crust on her feet...
The dirt on her shoulders...
The worms in her hair...
The wax on her ears...
Don't they see what I see?
I see that little girl,
The lost look in her eyes,
Who looked like she gave up on the world...
If they don't see,
That skinny little girl..
Sitting on the steps...
How will they ever know,
That she was me.
