'I need to get out of here.' Eric Walker opened his second floor window.
He lowered himself from the window sill until he was hanging from the very tips of his fingers. Careful not to make any noise that would alert his parents Eric gently let himself drop. Crouching there in his front yard Eric listened for his parents to give some sign that they heard him drop. After a moment Eric allowed himself to relax and stood.
It was a full moon tonight with the countless stars twinkling the night was gorgeous. Eric openly preferred the night over the day. The sun hurt his unusually sensitive eyes even after they had adjusted. Nothing short of a pain in the ass since he was included in two outside sports for school.
His eyes scanned over the neighbors' houses for any lights on in their windows. Some of them were notoriously nosy and unable to keep their noses out of others' business. So any if those particular people saw him exiting out his window they would without a doubt go running to one or both of Eric's parental units, equalling his demise.
Breathing in the cool night air he walked to the park down the street peacefully listening to the music the crickets graciously provided. The park was where Eric always went if he needed to think or just to get out. Tonight it was both. Alice freaked out having a major fit over his grade in trig dropping from an +A to an -A. Seriously, what was the big deal? Both Stanford and Julliard were practically mudslinging each other in an effort to get him to accept the amazing scholarships both were offering him for his athletic, musical, and academic talents. Would an +A in trig really mean the end of the world? Highly doubtful. He knew Alice and John just cared a lot, but still they needed to lighten up a bit.
Finally arriving at the far end of the park where his usual spot at a swing waited he sat letting his mind wander to the memory of when his best friend, Kyle Anderson, had written 'Property of Eric ChickMagnet' with a silver sharpie under the same swing where Eric sat now as a joke. Kyle had thought it befitting since the park and that particular swing was Eric's most frequent haunt. Just thinking about it made him laugh.
About three hours later of just sitting there looking at the stars contemplating essential and nonessential things alike Eric felt a faint unease begin to settle over him. Eric frowned. He had'nt been scared of the dark since he was six years old. The unease grew when a twig snapped behind him just a little over 10 feet away. He turned toward the noise but saw nothing out of the ordinary. Must've been a dog wandering around. Wanting only to stay for a minute longer Eric resumed his star gazing.
Tired and ready for bed Eric was about to stand when he felt a hand roughly snatch his hair back exposing his neck. A blade was laid to his throat non too gently almost breaking the soft skin there. Panic began to settle in deep in his chest. Eric ground his teeth and took a deep breath trying to get a handle on himself. To panic was the worst thing to do in a situation like this.
"My wallet is in my pocket. Just ta-"
"What the fuck makes you think I want your money?" A male voice was amused. Sounded maybe in his mid thirties.
Confused Eric asked "What do you want then?"
"I want you dead," The man smirked as he dragged the razor sharp knife across Eric's throat. Slicing cleanly through the artery.
While Eric chocked on his own blood the bastard shoved him forward into the bark. Eric tried to staunch the blood flow tightening his hands around the wound. Although he knew it was useless he couldn't just do nothing. Even when he tasted blood and his vision blurred he stubbornly, desperately tried to hang on just a little longer.
With a vicious kick to Eric's head the man crouched down where Eric could see him. Eric cursed how blurry everything was. As Eric looked up from a pool of his own blood the only thing he could tell about the man's appearance was that he was a platinum blond and he wore all black clothes.
"It's easier if you just let yourself die, miscreant," He sneered.
Unable to last any longer Eric bled out and darkness took him.
