In a land of myth and a time of magic, the destiny of a great kingdom rest on the shoulders of two idiots who don't know what they're doing.

Merlin and Arthur were in the kings royal chambers, "Didn't you just go hunting?" Merlin question while packing Arthur's bag. "Ah yes, I remember your complaining. Of course I could just be thinking of anything else, do you ever stop whining?" Arthur turned to Merlin, "Are you done yet?" "Almost sire." He put the bag over his shoulder and grabbed the cross bow off Arthur bed. "Lets go." He said with a smile. "Was that an order?" Arthur questioned as he took the bow out of Merlin's hand. "No sire." The two headed out to the  court yard where Arthur waited for Merlin to get the horses. "Come on Merlin, Hurry up!" Yelled Arthur once he saw his friend appear with their steeds. They got on the majestic creatures and rode off into the woods, where their journey was just beginning.

*Que opening credits* The two men were quietly walking along the rough terrain watching a rabbit. Arthur crept silently, taking aim. Right as he fired Merlin tripped and caused the bow to hit a tree and allowing the rabbit to run. "Damn it Merlin." Arthur got up and retrieved his arrow, "I  don't know why I take you with me on these trips." "You wouldn't last 5 minutes with out me." Merlin followed Arthur as he continued on, heading towards a cave. "There's a trail heading right in there, my guess is there's a some deer taking shelter in there." He continued bow at the ready. With a sigh Merlin followed, but he stopped dead in his tracks as soon he got in the entrance. "Somethings not right." he said. "Yeah, you're talking! You'll scare them away." Arthur whispered. Merlin knew better, he felt a presence, and it didn't mean well, "Let's just go." "Whats the matter, you're scared?" Arthur scoffed. Merlin just stood, staring down the darkness inside. "one of those funny feeling huh?" Arthur straightened his back, he knew that Merlin's funny feelings tended to be warranted, but he saw no real danger in the dark, dark mystery cave. "Come on." He crept back down and started stalking his prey while Merlin reluctantly followed.

The only source of light was coming from the mouth of the cave and a hole in the top, a small one. That was just part of the reason Merlin bumped into the walls so much, Arthur was going to make fun of him till he saw the look on his face. Merlin's eyes were open wider than usual, his jaw was clenched and his breath was unsteady.  "Are you alright?" Arthur was slightly worried if even that. "We shouldn't be here." Merlin replied as the came across a room of sorts. "You're right, you shouldn't be here." Said a voice in the shadows, it was that of an old woman. "Who's there!" Crossbow raised Arthur walked ahead. "How dare you walk into my home and threaten me in such a way." The woman walked into a beam of light revealing her wrinkled skin, frail white hair and small frame. Arthur lowed his weapon and looked around, "You live here?" "Yes! You have no right to be here leave!" "We will." Merlin chimed in." "Not that we'd want to stay here anyway." Arthur muttered under his breath as he turned to leave, disappointed in the lack of deer. "Excuse me?" The woman walked towards them. "What's wrong with this place hmm?" "I'm sure he meant nothing by it." Merlin just wanted to leave. "Don't speak for him, let him explain himself for once in his life." The woman snapped. "I simply meant I have important business to attend to." "But not so important if you had enough time to barge in here just to insult me." "I'm sorry if I insulted you, we'll be gone now." Arthur hadn't time for this, he wanted to kill something before they went back home. "We are truly sorry." Merlin added before they both were turned and on there way.

"Though one is the servant and one is the master; there is no clear leader and follower, You are but two sides of a coin. But your currency is worth nothing here and for your actions you will be taught a lesson." She said with a smile, showing her rotting teeth. "What?" Arthur turned back to her as she started in-canting. "You're a sorcerer?" He drew his sword and started towards her, but by simply raising her hand he stopped in his tracks. Merlin went to Arthur but she stopped him too. He was about to use his magic but he started listening to her. He thought he recognized it, he never tried it himself, but he knew it had to be no good. It wasn't till she finished that he finally realized what it was, "Arthur, it's a silence spell!" Merlin looked at Arthur and back at the woman , it was defiantly to late. He looked back at Arthur to see him frantically moving his lips, but nothing could be heard.

"Undo this right now!" Arthur ordered, "As king of  Camelot I command you! You are under arrest, I shall have you executed immediately!"  Arthur kept wriggling around to to escape the invisible bonds, he wanted nothing more than to get rid of this sorcerer. "There's no use in this Arthur no one can hear us."  Merlin sighed, he looked the woman in the eye, hoping she was a druid. He tried his telepathy, "Please undo this, this is the king, he can't help being a prat." The woman gave a soft smile, "Do not worry Emrys, your voices will return in do time. I hope you learn a lesson from this. Have fun." She chuckled before in-canting and vanishing into thin air, leaving the men in silence.

Merlin wasn't shocked the woman knew his name, she was a druid after all, but still it put him off to hear her call him that. Merlin fell out of his trance when he heard the thump of Arthur flinging himself on the ground, trying to get out the, now gone, bond. It's good thing they couldn't hear each other, Arthur would have his head if he heard how much Merlin laughed. Arthur got back up, dusting himself off, "I hate to say it but you were right Merlin, This was a bad idea, let's get back to Camelot."  He turned to see Merlin looking at him with a, are you serious?, face."What?"  Merlin put his hand on his hips and kept looking at him waiting to notice. "Are you deaf? Merlin, I'm only going to say this once, say something...Merl-" He stopped mid sentence looking at Merlin, "Can you hear me?"  Merlin sighed and crossed his arms. "Are you getting it now?" The king slumped his shoulders, sighed, and hung his head. With his hands on his hips he tried to say, "We can't hear each other can we?"

Merlin could guess what Arthur was saying, so he shook his head up and down, he gritted his jaw a bit before dropping his arms, "So, we have to get to Giaus, he may be able to help us. Let's go."  He turned to leave and Arthur followed, "We must get back, maybe Giaus can cure this."  When they got outside it was already dark, "We weren't in there that long." Merlin said. "How long were we in there?" Arthur said, "we might as well make camp." "We should wait till morning , make camp for the night." Merlin looked at Arthur and pointed at the both of the and then the ground mouthing the word, stay. Arthur nodded. Arthur pointed at Merlin you , put his hand to his head to indicate searching look, he put his hands close then threw them up wiggling his fingers fire, then he knocked on a near by tree, wood. Merlin nodded and put his thumbs up,  okay.

Merlin came back and lit a small fire. "What now?"  "You know I can't hear you right?"  The boys looked at each other, annoyed. Merlin knew Arthur couldn't understand him so he just spoke his mind, "You know this is your fault right? Maybe if you weren't such a supercilious ass we wouldn't  keep ending up in situations like this. Of course you don't even know it most of the time this stuff happens because it involves magic and the only way to tell you about it to reveal myself. Oh did I mention I have magic? Yeah, big time. One of the greatest sorcerers in the world. But do you appreciate it? Noooo if you knew you'd chop my head off."  Merlin stood in front of the fire with his hands on his hips. Arthur walked up to him, "I have no idea what you're saying, but i'm guessing its an insult. I would have been just fine with the rabbits, but you had to scare them off, so we had to go in that cave... We're both to blame for this. Mostly you." Arthur crossed his arms. "Oh I'm sorry are you getting mad at me?" Merlin had pointed to himself, then he pointed to Arthur, "This is your fault! how am I suppose to fix this one when I can't use magic hmm?  How are we suppose to explain this to Giaus? I told you I had a bad feeling about that cave, I didn't even want to go hunting!" Arthur looked at Merlin like he was crazy, "Are you insulting me even more? How many insults could one man think up? I am your king, one might call this treason you know. I know some kings that would have killed you years ago. You have no idea how lucky you are to have me."  Merlin threw his hands in the air, "Let me guess i'm not allowed to complain? If it weren't for my destiny I would have left Camelot years ago, you have no idea how much I do for you." The men fought like this for quite some time, but they grew tired of yelling things that would never be heard. Arthur pursed his lips and went to the other side of the fire facing away from Merlin. Merlin did a childish face to Arthur, they both lied down ignoring each other and tried to sleep.
