I'm awoken by a streak of sunlight shining across my face. I groan and toss myself to my side, rubbing the sleep out of my eyes as I adjust to the brightness.
When I blink them back open, they land upon some tousled sheets and a blanket lying across the floor. The memories of last night instantly come rushing back to me.
Dean.
The guy who I remembered falling asleep with me last night was now nowhere to be found.
My heart starts to hammer.
It honestly didn't even seem real.I was starting to convince myself that it was all just a dream, when I noticed the door slightly ajar. I freeze, hearing the faint sound of voices coming from somewhere outside the room.
"Someone should probably go wake her up."
Sam?
"Don't bother. She needs her sleep."
"But Dean, she'll want to know."
I push myself to my feet. What would I want to know?
I walk out the door, careful not to make any noticeable noises on my way out. The hallway was empty and cold under my bare feet. I shiver and tuck my arms over my chest as I make my way into the kitchen.
The smell of fresh waffles and bacon hit me by surprise as I enter the room. My stomach instantly grumbling in hunger.
"Good morning, sweetheart. How'd you sleep?" Bobby greets me with a big smile, causing Sam and Dean to pause their conversation and turn my way.
"Great, thank you." I give him a friendly grin in return.
"Good. I've made some breakfast, come and sit." he gestures towards the table where Sam and Dean were sitting. I nod before taking a seat next to Sam.
"Hey." Sam says kindly. He was dressed in his usual t-shirt and flannel.
"Hi." I reply sleepily as I dare to glance over at Dean. My heart falls as he averts his eyes to the floor.
Maybe last night wasn't such a good idea..
Bobby lays a plate full of waffles, bacon, eggs, & hash-browns in front of me. My eyes go wide at the amount, causing Bobby to laugh. He gives me a gentle pat on the back.
"Eat up." he winks and I gulp. How on earth am I supposed to eat all of this food?
I put the thought to the side as I dig in, instantly moaning within the first bite.
This is delicious!
"So Jordan, there's something you need to know.." Sam speaks up a few seconds later. I swallow the remaining food in my mouth and give him a curious look.
"What is it?"
"We've found out some new information about your parents."
I freeze.
"My real parents..?" I ask cautiously and he nods.
"I've been doing some research," He stands up and grabs a laptop that was lying on the counter. He sits it down in front of me and flips it open. His stomach hitting the back of my chair as he hovers over me.
"I looked up your parents names, like I've done plenty of times before. But this time I found something.. new."
The laptop clicks on and an image of a small girl appears. She was standing next to a swing set in pink shorts and a t-shirt. Her dark blue eyes crinkled as she grinned happily towards the camera. She was posed with her hand on her hip and her brown hair braided in pigtails. She had to be no older than 3.
I was so captivated by the picture and what it meant that I almost didn't notice the huge lettering at the top of the screen.
I felt my lungs constrict in my throat.
YOUNG GIRL DIES IN HOUSE FIRE.
No.
It couldn't be.
"Jordan.." Sam looks down at me.
"That's you."
