Sorry (not sorry) for constantly making Avi this man above men, but I can't help it. I love writing it so much :(

Not ashamed to say that the kingdoms in this are inspired by art, real life, and maybe Game of Thrones.

His lungs burned, struggling to keep up with the fast pace of his feet as he dashed across the wide wall guarding the Summit Palace. The aged cobblestone was slippery, and his toes barely found enough traction to keep him upright. His black cloak flapped behind him haphazardly in the icy mountainous winds, though it still blended him in perfectly with the crisp shadows of the night. The torchlight from the castle in front of him painted beautiful hues of orange and red across his sharp features, though the assassin didn't have time to stop and marvel at fire. He had to move fast, or his window of opportunity would be gone.

There was no reason for Mitch to be as nervous as he was. Being the most skilled and reliable assassin in all of the Hoying Kingdom usually gave him the confidence every soldier feared, but tonight was different. This time, Scott hand picked him to carry out his orders, because it had to be done by someone he knew had never failed, and there was no one a king could trust more than his own consort.

An icy chill ran up his spine as he got closer to the window one of Scott's moles propped open for him. This was one of the most dangerous missions he's ever been on, and his point of entry was through a god damn window. He felt like a child again, sneaking in and out of shops to steal handfuls of gold as practice for real missions. But a window was the only way he could get anywhere near the reigning monarch of the Kaplan Kingdom, so he'd have to make due, no matter how much it made him cringe inside.

His hot breath came out in icy puffs as he slowed his steps and approached the stained glass window. It was such a rarity for him to see so much stained glass in one place -- Kaplan architecture was much different than the familiar Hoying architecture he'd grown up in. It was older, and constructed from a type of stone he didn't quite recognize. The moss and vine laden bricks were more elegant than the standard shiny stone bricks in Scott's kingdom, and it only made the task ahead of him seem that much more foreboding.
