"Be careful, and call whenever you feel weak. Okay?" A lady with bobbing blonde curls and hazel eyes told our protagonist, Jade, in a commanding tone.
Jade nods in return, her blue eyes closing as she gives the nurse a small smile, "will do, is my bike still safe?" She asks, her eyes blank but the small smile staying on her pale face.
The nurse nods, a pout making its way onto her face, "be careful on that thing, you could easily get hurt."
Jade chuckled, Claire was one of the most friendly people she knew. "I've been riding that beautiful metal beast for years, I'll be fine." Her smile became a little less fake.
Claire nods and lets out a tiny laugh, putting her hand on Jade's shoulder, "don't push yourself, it'll make your clock tick faster." Her eyes glaze over and gain a distant look.
"Oh, don't get like that... It's a depressing topic," Jade frowns, pulling Claire into a hug. "Now I have to go, you have to save some lives that are able to be saved. Got it?" She squeazes her tighter.
Claire hugs Jade, Jade could tell the blonde was close to crying. She gently pushes Jade off, wiping her wet eyes, "go before I start to bawl my eyes out." Claire lets out a playful laugh as she gently pushes her shoulder towards the door.
Jade smiles and turns around, her back towards Claire, the smile falling as quickly as it came, "goodbye, Claire." She walks out through the glass doors briskly, the cold air brushing against her body. Something about the cold after winter air made Jade happy. Probably because it's cold, like her soul. Well, that's what she jokes around about. Heading to the private section of the parking lot, Jade finds her black motorcycle. She jogs lightly over to the bike, running her fingers over the white flame decals on the back. A small grin graces her face as she straddles the motorcycle and puts on her helmet. Revving the engine made her grin widen into a smirk, "ready to go, baby?" Jade asks the bike with a chuckle. She drives the bike out of the hospital parking lot and into the streets wildly, not caring about the looks she recieves from the older people here for a check up. As Jade drives, she passes a group of males who are laughing and playing with eachother, one of them was choking a very French-looking guy in a school uniform. Well, that's one way to relieve stress. Jade chuckles and drove home to her apartment. Running up the stairs and to her number, she slams open the door to have a gray cat leap onto her chest, "hello, Dumpling!" Jade smiles, catching the cat and nuzzling her face into its fur. Dumpling mewls and holds onto Jade, claws slightly digging in. Jade can't help but to laugh, walking over to the couch and flopping backwards onto the cushions, cuddling Dumpling. Becoming cushy on the couch, she pulls a blanket on her body. Jade feels a hum in her pocket, "Hm? I never get calls..." She wonders for a moment before turning on her phone, looking at the name she recognizes it immediately. Jade puts the phone to her ears, accepting the call.
"Hello, poppet!" A cheery familiar British voice greets her.
"Yo, cupcake," Jade grins, chuckling at her old nickname for him. "I thought you forgot me, meanie."
"I could never forget you! I'm not that mean!" He says in a playfully offended whine. "How's your fur-baby?"
"You mean Dumpling? She's fine, I need to repay my neighbor for taking care of her," Jade hums, biting her lip a bit as they chat. The two chat for what it seems like hours. Jade lets out a yawn, turning her head upwards to see a white clock on the wall showing it's ten. "Damn, I have to go to sleep. Talk to you tomorrow?" She suggests.
He hums in agreement, "be safe, poppet. I don't want you to get hurt. Call me if you need me, okay?"
Jade laughs softly, "will do, mom."
"Hey! I only want you to be okay. Ally is calling me, I have to go. Bye bye, Jade."
"See you, Ollie." Falling asleep, Jade snores softly to escape into a dream. The area around her becomes a distortion of blues and white. She stands on crystal clear water, a gentle wind blowing towards her body. Jade walks around the seemingly endless landscape, a white dress on her body. The water ripples under her footsteps. Looking up, a bright blue sky fills her gaze, a few clouds blocking the azure sky. "Is this what Heaven is like? It's so peaceful... Too peaceful for my liking," Jade whispers, a small pout on her face. Suddenly, the once azure sky becomes black, white puffs in the sky becoming a murky red. The water turns onto a gray, blank surface. "I guess, this would be similar to hell?" Jade tilts her head, closing her eyes as the air becomes stale. Her eyesight becomes foggy when she reopens them, body becoming weak. The last thing she says before the dark of deep sleep envelopes her, she whispers, "I wonder if I'm being punished?"---------
