Chapter 1
"Truth or dare, Bryden?" Jackson asked me.
"Uhhhh....I guess... urm....dare? Maybe? Yeah, dare." I replied after a couple seconds of thought.
A few guys hanging around us started whistling and laughing, excited to see what Jackson would make me do.
"Oh I have a really REALLY good one..." Jackson grinned maniacally, taking a long swig from his beer.
I groaned, "I swear if I have to run around naked again I just might kill you, dumb ass." Everyone laughed at that.
Stupid end of summer parties with their stupid games that usually ended in me either drunk or naked.
Jackson faked a hurt look. "It astounds me that my best friend would say such things to me! Bryden James Evans you take it back right now!"
I rolled my eyes.
"What's my dare Jackson?"
He grinned again. "Funny you should ask! Well, since you are the ONLY quarterback in history to have been single his ENTIRE football career AND it's our senior year...." Woops and hollers erupted from the people sporadically scattered throughout the smoky room.
"Just get on with it!" I told him.
"Alright, alright. I dare you to ask out the new girl!"
"What new girl?" I asked.
"You'll see...you'll see..."
-----------
"Bryden, wait up!" I turned to see Jackson darting around his car and across the common green in front of Pace Highschool towards me.
"Don't forget the new girl okay?" He reminded me.
It was our first day back and just being back at school after a long summer vacation was enough to make want to punch someone and now Jackson was here reminding me of his stupid dare making everything worse.
"She's in your homeroom! Don't forget to ask her out!" He called over his shoulder as he sprinted away to join the rest of the football team. I adjusted my backpack on my shoulder and looked around. A steady stream of students were filing inside the large oak front doors to receive their first day packets and homeroom assignments. Terrified freshmen kept shooting scared glances at the returning upper class men. Same thing every year. I sighed and went to join the long line of students.
Amber's POV:
" Ms. Kade, please take a seat." The principal of Pace High, Mr. Richards, gestured to some plastic chairs in front of his desk. I smiled and sat down.
"Welcome to Pace High. I think you'll fit in very well here. After vigorously looking over your very impressive transcripts I believe I have found a schedule that best suits your needs both academically and..." He continued on to tell me about how I had chosen wisely to come here and how much I would I would enjoy my time here and what a good school it was. I kinda zoned out after that, I'd heard this about a million times. Instead I decided to look at my schedule.
Period 1: Homeroom- Jenkins 245
Period 2: AP Literature- Combs 184
Period 3: Calculus- Helm 214
Period 4: Lunch

Fair enough. I could work with this. I mean it was basically the same thing I'd have anywhere else. This was just just another school schedule. Another school. Another town. Another job. My dad's job was always transferring him to a new town every few months. So I was always moving around. I hated it.
