Freshmen year wasn't what I was exspecting. I thought that I would at least hav gotten punched by an upperclassmen by now. I shouldn't complain. I mean it wasn't all that bad, grated I did lose my best friend of 8 years the summer before hand but I didn't need her anyways. Everything was going fine now and I had made new friends. I didn't think I could ask for anything more until a plot twist decided to pop up and throw my entire year out of wack.

"I like turtles."  That was it. The first sentence that would change my life in more ways than I thought possible. He smiled at me. "That's nice. I guess I like them too." I didn't notice how tall he was until I really looked at him. I mean I know I'm short but geez. I didn't notice anything specifically special about him. He was ordinary, and I didn't think anything of it. He sat with us at lunch and slowly became some one that I saw everyday. He teased me and we laughed. He stole my water bottle and would hold it above me head and make me jump for it. It was nice. Suddenly we got closer. We texted and we ask lots of questions and we just became best friends. I should probably tell you that his name was Connor. Mine is Gabi.

It was New Years eve and I was at a party at Cassie's house with Kayla and a few other people and everyone was having fun and being loud and it was a good time. Cassie and Kayla had been my besties since middle school and we always celebrated New Years together. I had been texting Connor and we had been playing the question game. "Come on Gabi you've been on your phone all night have some fun!" Cassie complained. "I am having fun! I can do two things at once you know!" I replied. "She's talking to her lover." Kayla giggle and said to Cassie. "I AM NOT!" I yelled "He's just a friend." "Okay whatever toast your bread." Cassie said. Connor asked the dumbest questions and I always answered truthfully until he ask who I liked. I was shocked and I just couldn't tell him so I asked him back who he liked. He replied with "Isn't it obvious." I already knew the answer. He had made it clear he liked my friend Sierra. It was difficult to hear. He told me more than I wanted to know. How he was asking her to the winter dance and how amazing she was. It hurt but I knew I couldn't tell him the truth. He then asked again who I liked, I refused. I realized he was neve going to give up so just after midnight I told him. I asked him to make sure nothing changed. I wanted us to still be friends. He agreed and promised that we would never change.

After we all got back from break I got a text. "We need to talk." It was from Connor. I freaked out. What had I done wrong? Was he mad? I was so worried until the next texted came. "Hell Gabi I like you to. Like a lot. I want us to be something but I don't want it to change us." "It won't. I promise that if we did ever go out and break up that you would still be my best friend." "Same goes for me." We didn't text anymore that day. The next day while we were sitting at lunch he look over and he and asked. "Will you be my girlfriend?" "Well yeah" I replied. Everone was a little shocked. It was kind of an amazing feeling. I mean this was my crush that was asking me out and I was freaking out on the inside. Since we met I noticed the little things. The way his green eyes look we he smiled. His little hair flip he did when he was nervous. Everything was suddenly perfect.
