"Where? WHERE IS IT???"

The student's whisper echoed through the bookshelves, branches and roots cuddled to avoid the sound. He put the books back onto the shelves and heavily walked through the pathways dispiritedly, the magical roots curled inwards as his footsteps came nearby. The moonlight pierced in the room, finding its way through the narrow holes to dissolve the darkness that had been covering the in-despair young man. He stepped outside, glanced at the moon far away outside the window as if something wanted to come out of that mouth. Branches and leaves slowly stretched towards him, waiting to touch him and ask: "What's the matter? Just share it with us...OK?", but pulled backwards as he turned around and walked away. The student came to the librarian's desk to return the key, she looked through the numbers to find his Student ID card and return it to him. As the boy turned his back against her, the librarian asked:

"Nothing, again?"

"Yes..."

"Don't worry, there's still many more books left."

"...Anyway, can you tell those trees to stay away from me?"

The librarian made a slight smile at his annoyed attitude, the boy walked outside, leaving behind the the creaking of the wooden door. He walked outside to the schoolyard with the whispering winds, the bug orchestra making a wonderful concerto of the night. But why were his sighs so much noticable in this random mix?

The streets was dark and blurry, there wasn't also many people walking around any more. He walked through the cramped pavements, where many were enjoying their sound sleep. Surrounding him were the lantern sprites that lit up the paths in the realm of night, especially avenues. They climbed up and down the pole playing around, but as they feel the presence of the student they quickly returned to their positions. After he went far away, they slid down and looked after him curiously.

After about ten minutes of walking, he arrived at the subway station. The bright lights were still on, and some elders were reading their books while waiting for the train. "9:30 PM already? Well, maybe I'll be home at ten." - The boy told himself. Suddenly his footsteps got softer and softer...Black clouds appeared and obscured the space, then they condensed into drops of pitch black. And a sound of teeth gritting echoed through the air and blew into his ears: "Sakurai Yukihira...what a beautiful name."

The boy froze, shivers sent throughout his body and his hair was made to stand on end. His heartbeat dithered as an offbeat song with wildly placed notes, his throat felt as if someone was gripping on it. He gathered all his strengths, took some deep breath and say: "Reiko Mizuki...three questions for the victim. Get one wrong, you lose a leg. And if all two are gone, it's gonna be your head the next time." Out of the dark mist, a young woman's head with long dark hair blended in with the space-time. Her face was pale white, ulcerated as if she had necrosis, black eyeholes that stayed widely opened. She smiled at him, the teeth hit together like a patient having a cold. The head twisted and rotated to every direction, and after a while she spoke:

"You knew me already? Then let us begin."

"Wait...I need...to take some notes." - Yukihira took out a pen and some papers from his schoolbag.

"Alright, but don't think that you can do anything nasty."

*Poof* She disappeared, still echoing through the suffocating atmosphere was her off-tone laughing. The fog in front of his eyes slowly faded away, revealing a man reading a strange book in a dimly lit room, thunders were rocking outside the window, out-lighting the small candlelight inside the room. Reiko then asked him: "The man you are looking at, in hatred he has lived through all his life. In the end, he sought forbidden arts to resolve the debt. That book there carries the black magic to curse anyone the wielder wants. But even if one tiny mistake is made, the curse would be on your head instead, hehe."
