Alyssa's POV

"Maddy?" I called as I walked in my house.

"I'm upstairs!" She yelled.

I darted up the familiar staircase and into my room. "Want to come to the café?"

She looked up from her phone. "Sure. Let's go." She got up from my bed and we walked out of the house.

I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket and glanced at it. I had a text from Dalton. Weird. I opened the text and quickly read over Dalton's message to meet him and the others at the beach.

"Maddy, change of plans. We're going to the beach to help with something."

"With what?"

"I'll explain on the way. We have to go now." I started to run down to our private beach as I explained everything about the marine biologist to Maddy.

We arrived just as I finished.

"Good, you're here, now let's go before anything else happens." Dalton ran out to the water.

"Dalton, don't. We need to take a boat out there. We don't want her to see our tails."

"Right." Dalton fell into the water as his tail appeared. "Guess I didn't get out in time." He pulled himself out of the water and dried off.

"Let's go ask if we can borrow Cameron's boat." We ran down to the café and calmly walked to where the guys were waiting. "Cameron, we need a boat. Can we borrow yours?"

"Sure. Now get out before Alex sees you and starts asking questions."

"Right. Thanks. Bye." We all ran out and down to the dock where Cameron's boat was tied up. We all climbed in and I untied the boat. Dalton guided it out to where the marine biologist's boat was floating. We quietly climbed on her boat and made ourselves invisible. We split up and searched the boat. I found the space where the marine biologist was testing what made us mermaids. I began searching everywhere for her research. I spotted her computer with an interesting file on it. I looked through it. It had everything about us, about our mermaidness on it. I began deleting files, erasing the evidence before realizing that it wasn't just one file on one computer, she had it saved everywhere. I don't get tech stuff. I had no idea how to erase everything. Wait, Cameron told me that he learned how to install a virus in one of his computer classes. He explained everything. I just have to do like he explained. I thought back to that day.

I worked through installing the virus as I thought about how. Soon, it was installed and I was searching for more evidence. I found some notes she had scribbled down about our tails. I set the notes away from anything flammable, glanced around, and set them on fire with my powers. They burned to ash and I got rid of the evidence. I searched again for any other evidence and found nothing. I ran out and mind messaged the others that it was done and to meet back at the boat. I waited until everyone was back and we climbed in the boat. We got back to the mainland and calmly walked back to the café and met up with the guys.

"You guys okay? Did you get it done?" Cameron asked as he, Jackson, and Thomas stood up.

"We're fine and the evidence has been destroyed."

"Good job." Cameron wrapped his arms around my torso.

"Thanks." I hugged him back.

"Guys, Alex is more suspicious than ever. We need to seem like there's nothing going on," Thomas warned.

"Yeah. It's becoming a problem. Sarah, you have to convince him that there's nothing going on."

"How?"
