We ran further and further still hearing the dogs behind us and I couldn't but laugh at our situation.
"Why are you laughing?" Delilah asked confused and panicked.
"I don't know I just find this really fun." I explained jumping over a bush and into a pit making me fall over and throw Delilah across the ground.
"Bones what the Hell!" I groaned in pain as a response.
"Hello? Are you okay?" I heard an unfamiliar voice ask. I waved my hand at her and slowly got up feeling a shard of glass in my thigh.
"That doesn't look good." The voice stated. I just realised that it wasn't Delilahs voice. I pulled a knife and searched the outer ring of the hole until I spotted a girl but only for a short second. I could hear her footsteps leading away but that wasn't the only thing. A dog jumped over the bushes and rolled across the ground with a yelp. It jumped to its feet growling and barking with its fur standing on end.
"Alright pooch let's dance." I smiled and readied my knife. The dog charged at me with its teeth bared and jumped, I threw my arm in the way for defense and stuck the knife out under my arm. The dog ran into my knife and squealed spreading blood across the ground.
"Did you just kill a dog!" Delilah angrily yelled.
"No I would never kill a canine, they don't give me the same reaction as people." I pulled the glass shard out of my leg leaking more blood onto the ground. I brought my focus to the girl that was here I grabbed Delilah and let her on my back. I painfully made my way out of the hole and in the girls direction seeing a building in the distance. The shouts of people and dogs became irrelevant to me as I made my way towards this building. It was rather large and grown over with vines and brush but in all honesty it had an uncertain beauty to it. I walked through the front door and could instantly feel a difference my breaths coming out like fog.
"Hello there." That girl called from down the long hallway. I walked a little further in watching her disappear up some stairs.
"Hey! Can you help us?" I called out but only hearing echoes.
"Do not move." A voice behind me demanded.
"Now put the girl down and both of you turn around slowly." I did as the voice said and turned around but the moment I did the man was tackled by something and carried into a different room filling it with screams of panic and pain. Blood pooled out of the room and into the hallway at our feet. I gripped my blades tightly and started to mentally prepare myself for anything that might happen.
"Bones? Do you hear that?"
I listened closely and could hear squishing noises from the room I was recently paying attention to. The rancid smell of blood and rotting flesh filled my nose. I poked my head into the small room to observe the corpse of the dead officer strapped to a bed with his organs stranded out towards the ceiling like streamers in a party. His mouth gaped open revealing his last horrific moments and his eyes were a deep bloodshot.
"Do you like what I've done with the room?" A small voice asked.
"Could use a little more color along the walls." I suggested without searching.
"Perhaps, splatter or stream?" The female voiced asked.
"Splatter, it gives it a strong personality in my opinion." The girl walked out and dipped her hands into the body and threw blood around wildly.
"How does that look?" She asked with a crazed look.
"Ya know it doesn't look half bad actually." The girl took back into the darkness of the dimly lit room and disappeared from my sight. I walked into the corner to discover her missing but had a terrible sense that someone was watching me. I turned to see the corpse of the dead officer raising himself upward and staring at me with his bloodshot eyes.
"Bones would you quit fucking with me." I looked towards Delilahs way and saw different strands of hair being pulled at from thin air. I scoped every inch of the area around her but couldn't see any possible reason why her hair was floating. I was thinking hard to myself when a sudden sense of panic hit me, I could breathing on the back of my neck. I dreaded turning around but held my breath and turned fast but found nothing there which sent a chill up my spine I could still feel the breathing close to me practically in my ear. I grabbed Delilah and carried her quickly out of the room And back into the hallway with the feeling still on my trail.
"What's wrong?" A little voice asked me. Again I searched but found nothing. I pulled knife ready for any danger but could fe it being pulled like a magnet. It pulled out of my hand and clattered across the tile floor to the other side of the hallway. I thought about retrieving it but a foot came into view. A girl with purple hair stepped down from the last step to the staircase in front of the knife and picked it up with a faint grace.
"Hey do you kno-" I stopped noticing the gun she was raising and pointing in my direction. All I could pay attention to was the barrel of the gun and my knife that she was picking up. My blade made a clinging ring as she scraped the tip of it off the floor.
"They're in here!" A voice behind us yelled. A surge of footsteps could be heard scurrying towards the opening. There were two options die by her or die in jail. I mustered my courage and grabbed Delilah swiftly breaking through a door next to us with my back holding her to my chest.
"You, put the gun on the floor and get on your knees!" I picked Delilah and myself up and went further into the darkness of the room. I could see the officers slowly walking past the doorway with the acceptance of a few rushing into the room with us. Gunshots broke the silence and footsteps went wild distracting the two officers in the room with us. I grabbed my cleaver out of my bag and readied myself. With a huff I went to charge but everything fell silent again only the officers sharp breaths could be heard. Silently the little girl walked in front of the doorway catching all of our eyes. Blood dripped off of her and the head of an officer was obvious in her hand spilling blood everywhere. She walked out of sight and the officers hesitantly followed her with shaking hands.
"Did you fucking see that?" One of the officers asked. He peaked his head out and instantly came back in screaming and flaming his arms everywhere.
"What is it? What did you see?" The other officer asked but couldn't get any answers past the belligerent mumbling of his college. He stormed over to the door and looked the same way and froze, he pulled himself back into the room and placed his back against the wall sliding down slowly.
"Isn't this fun?" A small voice whispered by my ear. I turned sharp with my knife in hand meeting a pair of green eyes just inches from mine.
"Hi there." She slowly crawled towards me making go into the open to avoid such close confrontation. The officers stared towards us and immediately seethed with rage.
"This wouldn't have happened if we weren't chasing you!" They both pulled there guns but a table flew into them causing a blood splatter.
"That's enough out of you." The girl giggled with mischievous smile. I grabbed Delilah and placed her behind me causing the girl to cock her head.
"You're protecting her? I wish someone would have protected me things would have came out better." She emotionlessly stared at us but slowly began to smile again.
"What's your name?" She asked excitedly.
"I'm bones and this is Delilah." I cautiously introduced ourselves.
