A/n: Hi, quick note. Sans is in all lower case due to his speech pattern and Papyrus is in all caps because of his speech pattern. Papyrus is not yelling all the time. Only sometimes.
"SANS! ARE YOU FINISHED PACKING YET? WE HAVE TO BE READY TO LEAVE THE UNDERGROUND!" Papyrus yelled. "pap, my packing has been done for ages now. i'm helping the kid with theirs." He informed his brother. Sans placed the last item in the box and and turned to the child. "welp, we're done here. you wanna come Grillby's with me?" Frisk nodded. As they left the house and trudged through the snow, a hooded figure came into view and entered Grillby's. They looked through the window and saw that the figure had sat down at the bar. They appeared to be conversing with Grillby. They had used a strange dialect but could understand Grillby's sign language. When the conversation had finished, Sans and Frisk entered the building and sat in their usual seat at the bar. Grillby provided them with their usual order. The figure kept their hood up to hide their face from Sans. Frisk tapped the figure on the shoulder and talked to them. "Tra la la, hello again traveller. Ready for your last adventure here? I can give you a ride to Hotland after this." The skeleton turned and stared at the figure. "hey buddy, do I know you?" He asked. "Tra la la, I don't think I've seen you before but you might have seen me." They said. Overwhelmed with curiosity, Frisk pulled down their hood just to see who it was they were talking to. The figure's blonde hair spilled out from inside the hood and fell over the figure's back in waves. They turned to face the child and Sans. They had a feminine face that was scarred from something. Perhaps a large fight. Sans looked at her with great sadness and sighed. "hello, angella. how are you?" He said, his words were heavy with anger and sorrow. "Hello again Sans. How is Papy?" She asked. "he's fine. he's trying to follow in her footsteps." He told her with great emphases on the word trying. "Oh. And yourself?" She asked. "i'm just fine." He said sharply. A deafening silence followed. The female monster swirled the small amount of liquid in her glass, gazing at the small ripples she had created. "Sans. How long are we going to do this? I have apologised over and over for something I could not prevent. And you just stare at me as if I should be the one who is dust." She says with a heavy heart. Frisk looks at Sans questioningly. They ask him what happened to make him dislike her. He stared at the child and took a sip of ketchup. He started the story of how he came to know Angella.
"i met angella when my mother died. they were part of the royal guard together." He said. Frisk didn't push him for more information but Angella gladly filled in the blanks. She sighed for Frisk. "I knew Sans through his mother. His mother was called Ariel. And we were best friends. We fought in the war against humans. She fell in love with their father and had Sans and Papyrus. Her funny bone and her young soldier. He reminds me so much of her. Her fighting spirit and her courage to do what's right, her compassion. I see them all in his soul. While Sans has her sense of humour and her ability as well as her ferocity and commitment to family. We were fighting one day and I was too far up in the sky, I didn't see the spear until it had hit its mark. I dropped from the sky and cradled her as she turned to dust in my arms. Her last wishes were for me to look after her two babies until their father came. I went to find them but they were gone. I... I went crazy looking for them. I found out that he had taken them. I became angry and went to find him to see them. So I could at least say goodbye. But, when you opened the door Sans and called out for her, I... I couldn't stop the tears from falling. He came out and saw how broken I was and saw the dust on my uniform. You freaked out and I heard Pap crying. He invited me in and you calmed Pap down somehow. I told him what happened and made my peace. He forgave. You did not. I wish I could reverse time and save her..." She said but was cut off by Sans. "then why don't you?" He said angrily. "Because you wouldn't here and neither would Papyrus! I'm sorry but I would rather save you two than save her. People need you more. Sans. Look who is sat next to you. With her around, they would never have freed us." She explained. Her anger was understandable. Frisk stopped her from continuing. Angella stood up and took off her robe to show Sans her wings. "Sans, since that day, all my feathers turned black. I can fly but not for long. I... would like to see him, Sans. Just to see if he remembers me. Please let him have one more friend in the underground." She begged. Sans got up reluctantly and sighed. "come on. i'll take you to him." He said. The child hopped off their stool and followed him. She trailed after them and saw the red of his scarf before she saw his face. Her red scarf. She thought. "SANS! HUMAN! THERE YOU ARE. I WAS LOOKING FOR YOU." Papyrus hugged the child. She looked at him but only saw Ariel. "SANS? WHO IS THAT BEHIND YOU?" He asked. "Hello Papyrus. My name is Angella. I knew you when you were just a baby. I knew your father as well." She told him. He looked at her as if he recognised her but couldn't remember why. "You might know me like this." She pulled on the robe. "Tra la la. I am the riverman or am I the riverwoman? Ha ha." She said. She pulled down her hood and took off her robe. Her wings spread out and they all saw something beautiful. On her wings were old glyphs that read: 'you guard my earth and I'll guard your sky.' with half of the glyphs written in strange wing dings. Sans saw the glyphs and was shocked. His mother had another nickname for him and Papyrus. Earth and sky. He was earth and Papyrus was the sky. His mother guarded him and she guarded Papyrus. He finally understood why she kept trying to keep in contact with them. She was still protecting them. After all these years. His mother was still fighting for them.
