okay so first off thank you for reading this, I hope you enjoy. This is the first book that I have written, that I enjoyed writing. I am going to make the chapters short and to the point, I dot want them to be too long and drawn out because I usually get side tracked, so yeah they will be short. Also I feel shorter chapters allows for a longer, yet, easier book, this also allows for me to get more ideas and leave a few cliffhangers as I update and continue writing, also I'm planning on there not being an ending......for now. but I will update ever Saturday unless necessary. As you read, I am aware of some typos and some grammatical errors, I am not typing this is am doing it on my phone so there is a few auto corrections. Also feel free (if you want) to send me some ideas, or some pictures to use for future chapters. With that being said, feel free to point them out and give me some structural criticism and enjoy!!!

In 1804 there were many girls in Madam Elvira's Orphanage For Disturbed Girls. And to be quit honest I don't know who was more disturbed the girls or the penny pinching women named Elvira. Let me draw your attention to Annabelle Goldberg. She is 15 years old and she looks perfect in ever aspect, she has beautiful golden ringlets and brilliant indigo eyes. Her lips are naturally rosy, her skin was chalk white with just the right amount of blush to it. Her skin has never seen the light of day, like many other of the girls, but she has a special reason. She spends her time locked in the cellar for her rebellious behavior.  Her looks are what get her adopted, if only she behaved more like a proper lady, would she be kept. Many people say that at her age she should be able to have proper manners, only problem is she has never had the chance for training. I mean Madam Elvira doesn't really care about the children at all. All she cares about is money; however, after the 37 times being returned for "uncivilized behavior" even the penny pinching madam admitted she would have to pay for the deportment lessons since finishing school was out of the question.

Most of the girls Annabelle's age have already finished school. but for her she has never gone to school, her life has been within the confinements of the orphanage. she has known no other place but the  cellar and her tin room on the top floor that she shares with 7 other girls her age. These girls are dirty and smelly, they have mangled hair that you can see the clumps of dirt in. The girls don't have any beds, instead they sleep on makeshift cots that have probably been there longer than the girls have, and for Annabelle that's a long time. As for their clothes, we'll that too is a nightmare. They only have 3 sets of threadbare dresses that rarely get washed and smell as if they are being eaten alive by the garbage. For some of the girls though, they have never seen a dress on them, on the rare occasion that clothes got washed, a child was being chosen or looked at. For the food, the children get rotten porridge with soured milk that madam Elvira has the girls get at the market for half off. Anyway for the garbage it only gets taken out to the hole in the woods once a month. And with 153 girls, and counting, that only bathe before inspection, and all their garbage, that's a lot of poisonous fumes flying around the building. That is all except for the fist floor, that is where madam Elvira  ad he office, its also where separate rooms are for the inspections. Inspections happen when a family, or couple, asks or says they are interested in adopting. The girls all line up based on the requirements,  based off of height, age , hair or eye color, race, ect.  On those rare occasions,  they all dress up and wash up, do our hair, and for the older girls we do our makeup. Everyone is to stay on the first floor, we play instruments, sing, read, dance, or that is they all basically put on an act. They are to act happy and polite, pleasant and cheerful, and any girl who fits the requirement is to wait in a line in the entrance. They stand there while the family or couple inspects them.

With that said, you would expect most families to know that the girls need some polish for manners, but none so far have been ready for Annabelle's scrawny hands shoveling food into her mouth, conversation interrupting belches, or most of all her jaw-dropping lack of decorum. But that isn't really Annabelle. No, she has manners, more than she leads on, she just lives her life her way. If she doesn't like a family she makes sure she doesn't stay. Needless to say that it isn't pleasant going back "home" but she is happier with being with most of the girls than it is when she is with those "stuck up rich and spoiled snobs" as she puts it.

So its back to the basement she goes.
