|Avery's pov|

"Flight 263 boarding to Lax." The lady on the intercom read, irritating me.
"This is ridiculous!" I threw my hands in the air, accentuating my point.
"Mam if you could please quieten down, you're being disruptive to others."One of the security officers spoke, only fuelling the fire more.
"Did you just-" my mouth hung open as I turned towards my best friend of seventeen years, Hayden Stoney "did he just tell me to 'quieten down'?" I yelled, throwing my hands around more.

"Ave stop, you're only making it worse. They aren't gonna find anything." Hayden tried to shut me up. Key word: tried.

You might want to know why I'm acting so batshit crazy...
We were just minding our own business, throwing away our recently empty Starbucks cups as we made our way down the line, our carry on backpacks in hand. We emptied our bags into the crates and waited in line, like the innocent little girls we are. But when we were waiting for Hayden's stuff to come through on the metal conveyer belt type thing, a security guard made his way over to us, taking us away from the swarm of people trying to get through security and towards the gates, onto the plane that'll take them away from the rainy streets of Britain.

"Excuse me miss, if you will follow me?" He turned, motioning for us to follow.
"Umm, sir what is happening? Our plane is boarding soon and we haven't got both of our bags yet?" It sounded more like a question but I was too confused to care.

Basically they thought they found traces of some drugs in Hayden's backpack. Ridiculous, I know. I've been yelling about it for the past twenty minutes.
Hayden's always been the quiet one, I never really minded considering I'm the loud one. I will speak my opinion, I don't care who it's too, unless it's rude.

"We apologise, we seem to have made a mistake." Some woman came out of a room, handing Hayden her bag back.
"Finally! If we miss our flight you'll be hearing from me!" I said angrily, storming towards our gate, Hayden following quickly after.

"Ave you need to watch how you act in these situations. Shouting doesn't help anybody." She's so wise, that's one of the few differences between us.
"Come on, I just wanna be there already." I looked at my phone, sighing when I read the time. 2.43 am.

I'm currently sporting a pair of leggings; a pair of Nike trainers; a plain white shirt and my comfiest, baggiest jumper. Hayd made the point to me that when we arrive in America the heat will hit me like a truck but I was too tired to pay any attention to what she was saying.

"Avery what if the plane crashes?!" Hayden's always been afraid of flying. We went on holiday together when we were fifteen and she was panicking through the whole flight. I told her to suck it up. If it were anyone else I like to think I would've been comforting but come on, she's my best friend.

"Hayd relax, at least we're on the freaking plane. In ten or so hours we will be in America and we will finally be able to relax for a little bit." I sighed in contentment just thinking about it. Course work had been piling up over the past few months and we'd both manage to get it done before our gap year.

When we applied for our gap year we had to state what we'd be studying whilst away, obviously, that's what a gap year is.
I'm doing photography and honestly I'm not sure what Hayden's doing. I know, I know, bad best friend, but when it comes to university and studying Hayden's always kept to herself.

"baby I like it slow" I hummed, starting to subconsciously dance to the music.
Hayden and I had started watching these 'Dolan Twins' one day when we got bored and had a completed stack of coursework on the desk in our dorm. I've got to admit, even though most YouTubers/Viners/Musers/Tweeters/Instagramers (damn she's one hateful person. It IS like me pia_stoney ) annoy me, these two are pretty funny.

They remind me of Hayden and myself. They're goofy and without each other they just aren't the same.
I didn't actually really sit and watch their videos. I don't know which is which. I've only seen one picture of them and it was a foetus one. I just listen to the video whilst Hayden watches them.

All the way to the airport (from midnight to two am) she was going on and on about how she'd be 'in the same country as them' and 'breathing the same air as them'. She even went crazy because we'd be 'walking where they'd walked' when we went to the Hollywood sign as part of my photography.

I had to grip the steering wheel pretty hard to not snap. I get cranky when I haven't slept, I'm not the only one. Stop judging me.
The worst part about me not having slept in nearly a day is that I find it very difficult to sleep on planes, especially when I have my best friend trying not to throw up to worry about. Then when we land in LAX and get all our luggage we have a half an hour taxi ride to the apartments we're renting because the rental car won't be ready until tomorrow.

I'm gonna be one grumpy, grouchy which by the time we get to where we're staying.
Getting hot, I took off my jumper, leaning back in my seat and looking out of the window.

The clouds floating by relaxed me, my eyes drooping before Hayden tapped my shoulder vigorously "Ave I'm gonna hurl!" she jumped out of her seat, nearly tripping over her own two feet as she went to the toilet.

Ten hours of this, should be fun. America here we come.
