Loud knocking on the door wakes me from my heavy sleep. I rub my eyes, groggily standing and stop when I see my reflection in the mirror above a nightstand. "Fvck." I mutter, seeing the dried streaks of tear trails along my cheeks and the puffiness of my eyes. "One minute!" I shout, trying to rub them away by throwing water at my face from the bathroom sink.
"I said, one fvcking minute!" I shout, when the banging continues. Finally, I realize that although the trails are gone, the puffiness won't go down. "You again?" I ask, irritated at the little kid from before after I open the door.
The kid nods, a cheeky smile over his lips. "So you remember me?" He says.
"Sadly, I have to go with yes."
Kid laughs and nods behind him. "Mom wanted me to tell you dinner is ready, but now that I think about it- why are you here?"
"Tell your mom I'm not hungry." I say, shoving my hand out to close the door but he stops it with his foot. "OK, Kid, step away before I do something I'll regret."
"You didn't answer my question." He points out.
I nod. "It's called, pleading the fifth with a side of fvck off."
"You curse a lot."
"That's because I don't give a fvck." I say, forcing the door shut. Biting my lip, I rest my back against the door, pulling at my long, turquoise hair. "Why me? What the fvck did I do wrong?" I ask myself, as I slide down onto the floor.
Unwillingly, angry tears roll down my cheeks as my mind recollects past memories I'm not too fond of. "Where's the fvcking money, Valerie!" The scary man yells, heavy spit falling out from between his yellow teeth as he holds my mom by the hair.
"I don't have it yet, I'm sorry! I'll have it by next week, I promise, I just need more time!" She would yell, but it seemed that only angered him more and he pulled on her harder.
His face contorted into a malicious expression. "Fvck next week, I told you I'd find you if you weren't ready! Do you want to die, Bîtch? You're testing my fvcking patience! I'll pull the trigger, Valerie, you know I will!"
"No! No, please!" I shouted, running out from the cabinet mommy had told me to hide in until she said otherwise. "No, please!"
