‘I can’t believe I just saw IM5 in concert’ I thought to myself, thrilled while waiting for my car in the valet parking area. Behind me, I heard the automatic doors slide open, but didn’t pay much attention to it. My spirits were high and the night was cool.
“Will, you’re amazing!” I overheard someone behind me exclaim. My thoughts began to overrun and my heart was thumping fast. ‘Will? As in Will Jay? THE WILL JAY FROM IM5?’ I turned around dumbfounded, to find Will talking to another 5er a few feet away. My dream has just come true. Instead of wearing a leather jacket from the concert, he was wearing a simple white t-shirt. ‘I can’t believe it! He was right there. In front of me. How is this possible? I don’t know.’ Not wanting to bother Will since he was talking to someone, but wanting to meet him badly, I paced back and forth antsy, debating about whether or not I should approach him. I didn’t want to intrude in his conversation with another fan. Once the other girl left, I turned around again just to find him checking his phone, leaning against the square, pasty-beige pillar outside of the hotel. Next to him was a large, clear bag filled with merchandise, such as t-shirts from the concert. Finally mustering up my courage, I eagerly walked over towards him.
“Will! It’s you! You were here the entire time and we weren’t talking!” I stupidly exclaimed. Embarrassed, I continued to babble on. Not controlling one word that came out of my mouth. I felt my stomach tossing and turning as the excitement filled my head. During my strange speech, I overheard a blonde woman beside Will just said, “awe”. Apparently fangirling over guys was cute to her. That’s when I soon realized she wasn’t just a random onlooker. She was with Will. Possibly IM5’s manager, Jill. Will was probably there to help Jill carry merchandise to the car. ‘Could he be any more perfect? He’s such a gentleman!’ I thought to myself. Looking up from his cell phone with those gorgeous almond eyes, he stared directly into mine.
“Will! It’s you! You were here the entire time and we weren’t talking!” I stupidly repeated myself again.
“Well, we’re talking now” he smiled.
“Yeah… we are” I replied back. I started to calm down after Will spoke. ‘He’s just another boy and I should be able to have non-spazzy conversations with him.’
“Do you remember me?” I curiously asked.
“Yeah, of course. You were at the meet and greet earlier.” he answered with a bit of sass in the beginning of his voice.
“Oh really? Then what did I do during the meet and greet?” I tested him. Will thought for a bit, searching through his brain for any signs of my actions. Then, gave me an apologetic look.
“Um, I’m better with faces not actions.” he admitted.
“I gave you my phone number. Don’t forget to call alright?” I joked around.
“Come here and give me a hug.” Will exclaimed, making it his mission to keep me happy. With arms wide open, I walked straight into his. My face met with his sweaty shoulder and I closed my eyes. The world seemingly slipped away and there was nothing else but me and him. Just us two. Alone in the Universe, holding each other. Pulling away, we were at the hotel again and reality returned. Stunned, I didn’t know what to say or do. Will then picked up the bag of merchandise and slung it over his shoulder, like Santa would during Christmas.
“You don’t have to carry that.” maybe-Jill exclaimed.
“No! I want to be the hunchback of Notre Dame.” Will adorably replied. Seeing my chance, I decided to jump back in.
“Oh my gosh! I just recently watched that movie and cried twice.” I honestly told them.
“Awe, I haven’t watched it yet.” Will answered. Just then, the valet pulled up with my car.
“I have to go, my ride is here and I have to drive two hours to get home.”
“Awe, I hate long drives” apparently, Will’s new favorite word was “awe” today. About to walk away, Will dropped the bag and widened his arms again.
“Wait. Give me one more hug.” he said behind my back. Turning around, I went to hug Will again. Just like the first, time seemingly slowed down as we embraced each other in front of the hotel. Once reality hit, I didn’t want to leave. I wanted to stay there forever talking to Will Jay. Trying to stall, I blurted out,
“You smell nice, for a sweaty guy” and just then I was ready to bury myself 6 feet underground and hibernate until the embarrassment faded away. ‘Really? REALLY? YOU SMELL NICE. WHAT WAS THAT’ I thought. I was just shocked that he was sweaty and smelt like cologne. Is that too much for a teenage girl?
“What, really? But I’m all sweaty.” Will confessed. After that, we said our goodbyes and I left. On the way home, I replayed the moment in my head over and over again. I met Will Jay. Will Jay from IM5. THE Will Jay Behlendorf.
