"Makayla come on, your late for your studies!" My mom downstairs yelled.

Let's do this! I jumped out of my bed never feeling more awake. I through on some clothes and pulled my light brown hair up into a messy ponytail. I quickly ran down stairs only to let out a shriek seeing my mom and dad getting their groove on in the kitchen.

I slap my hands over my eyes, "guys! Seriously ever morning?!" I whined.

"Sorry honey." My mom said. I removed my hands and saw my moms fiery red hair and my dads pitch black mane that he calls hair.

"Rose do you remember where I put Tyler's new office keys?" My dad asked running around the kitchen looking more frantic than before.

"Um....didn't you put them next to the front door?" She said continuing to work on the pancakes. My dad ran out of the kitchen to look by the front door. I sat on a stool next to the counter. Looking at the counter in front of me I saw uncle Tyler's keys siting right in front of me.

"Rose, they aren't there!" He said running back into the kitchen. His hat looking more crazy than usually, it looks like he has ran his fingers through it to many times.

"Then Nathan I don't know where you possibly put them?!" My mom exclaimed throwing her hands up into the air and slapping them on the counter. I cleaned my throat and my dad looked over at me, I pointed to the counter and he finally smiled.

He quickly grabbed them, "our daughter is absolutely fantastic, thank you Little Makayla." He kissed my forehead, "I'll be back later tonight." He went over and kissed my mom on the lips. They quickly separated and smiled at each other.

"Bye. Get home soon." She said letting my dad walk away from her.

He laughed and walked out of the house driving down the street.

"You woke up late for the past two days Makayla, what's wrong?" My mom said setting a couple of pancakes in front of me. I shrugged my shoulders not looking at her, "what's wrong baby girl?" She said grabbing my chin and making me look at her in the eyes.

"The-the nightmares keep coming back." I mumbled, "it's always off and on, I don't them at all."

"What are they about sweetie?" She asked with concern in her voice.

I took a deep breath and spoke the word that haunts my dreams, that keep me awake at night and make me feel as if someone is always watching me from the darkness of my room, "vampires."

My mom pulled away from me and quickly walked to the sink and doing the dishes, "what's wrong mom?" I asked walking next to her. I touched her shoulder but she jumped a little bit under my touch.

"Nothing. I'll talk about your dreams with your father, he always had nightmares when he was your age. Now go get your studies done." She said shooing me away.

I walked into the living room and pulled my binder out of my backpack. You see my parents don't believe in public school. They say that it will corrupt my soul and will lead me down the path to Hell. So here I am, at the magical age of 17, being home schooled. I would consider myself a smart person but some other people would beg to differ.

Technically school hasn't even started yet, I mean it's only July. But I like to get a kinda leg up on what I'm learning.

About 2 hours go by and I feel like my heads going to explode with all of the knowledge that I crammed into it. I walked up to my room to grab my phone, but as I was walking to my room I heard my mom say some pretty interesting things like: vampires, secrets, tell her.

I quickly walked to my room and grabbed my phone. Not wanting to pass my parents room again I plopped down on my bed to see that I got one new message.

From Emma:
Hey gurl! I have big news!
meet me at the cafe in about
5??
(11:30 pm)

I looked over to my clock and decided that it wouldn't hurt to go see what she needs to tell me.

To Emma:
Yeah I'll see ya
there!
(11:31 pm)

I jumped off my bed and walked out of my room I walked past the living room and saw my parents talking in hushed tones on the couch. My dads usually not home this early, so why is he hear now?

"Makayla, can your mother and I talk to you for a minute?" My father said pointing to the chair that was positioned in front of the couch they were sitting on.

"Yeah, sure," I sat on the chair feeling really uncomfortable under their unwavering gaze, "Um..... Hi?" I said uncomfortably. They didn't move they looked away from me to look at each other. Then they shared a knowing look and moved their gaze to mine again, "am I in trouble?" I twirled the ring that was on my finger, which I tend to do when I'm nervous.

"No Makayla your not in trouble." My mom says laughing a little bit, "we just wanted to tell you that-,"

"It's okay Rose I'll tell her." My dad said moving to sit in front of me. He grabbed my hands and looked into my eyes.

"What is it?" I asked getting more anxious as the minutes go by.

He took a deep breath, "your a vampire." He looked at me as if expecting my to freak out. All I did was laugh. I laughed so much that my stomach started to hurt and I got tears forming in my eyes.

My parents were looking at me in shock and confusion written on their faces, "Makayla are you okay?" My mom says sitting next to me touching my shoulder. I shake my head as my laughing turned into sobbing. I really don't know why I started crying. I quickly pushed them away from me and ran out the door.

I needed some air I quickly jumped into my car, I saw my parents holding each other on the front pouch just watching me drive away from the house. I can't go back. I mean I'm not a vampire! I'm Makayla Wonder, just a natural, fun loving teenager! I don't deal with this type of crap well!

So I'm doing what ever other teenager does when faced with a problem they are afraid of, I ran away. Wow, what a coward.
