“Want popcorn?”
You looked up at your boyfriend from your seat on the ground, trying to plug in the wires for the DVD player. "Sure," you replied and Leo sauntered off to make you some. Fumbling with the CD, you finally pushed it into the slot and turned the TV on. Today wasn't going as well as you'd hoped. Truth be told, you hadn't been expecting Leo to show up at your door so late at night, either. “Hyde” had just finished its final stage at Inkigayo and you thought that all six of the members would have gone home to relax. And yet, Leo had come to see you as soon as he could. It made you feel special, the way he always worried about you, made sure you were eating, called you before and after concerts. He didn’t make it overbearing, either; with him, it was just right.
Within a few minutes he came back with a bowl full of popcorn for you both to share. He was already nibbling on a piece as he walked in the door, the bowl in the other hand, and you inadvertently smiled.
“What?” He finished eating and walked over to the sofa, sitting down and placing the bowl on the coffee table in front of him.
“Oh, nothing.” He didn’t have to know that you thought he was beautiful. Sure, he was handsome, but it was hard to simply describe him like that. The way he talked, his subtle smiles, the way he ducked his head when he was embarrassed, and the times he would fully laugh, unable to contain himself- you loved it all.
You handed him the remote and he flipped channels until the bright movie previews screen came on. Leo patted the seat next to him and you complied, going over and sitting beside him. You reached for a handful of popcorn and started eating, Leo doing the same. Minutes trickled by and the storyline of the film rapidly progressed. You turned to see Leo’s engrossed face, his body half-leaning over the armrest of the sofa.
The movie was great, but something was missing. Leo shifted, noticing your obvious distractedness. “What’s wrong, ______?”
You shook your head in reply and he looked at you for a minute, disbelieving, and then turned his attention back to the movie. What was it? You looked over at Leo, amused at his rapt attention, his whole body focused, unmoving. He was here, so why did it still feel strange? For a moment, you felt a chill and shivered.
“Are you cold? Do you need a blanket?”
You turned, surprised. You hadn’t even known he was watching you. “No, it’s probably just a slight breeze.”
“We’re inside.” He moved as if to get up and you grabbed his wrist, pulling him down.
“I’m okay...”
Leo looked at you for a few seconds and shrugged, going back to his original position. You looked at his arm enviously, wanting to lean against it in the hopes that it wouldn’t be as cold. It suddenly struck you that maybe what you craved was simply his attention. You mentally yelled at yourself for having chosen a movie when you two could have done something else, instead.
It became your personal mission to sneak up close and nestle against him. All of a sudden, it became awkward to just ask him if you could cuddle together. Knowing Leo, you would probably get an embarrassed but loving smile as he would agree, and you didn’t want him to know that that was the reason you were so distracted.
You slyly began began inching across the sofa, trying to be subtle. Leo took no notice and continued watching, every now and then reaching out for some popcorn. Every dip of the cushions posed a threat that he would notice and ask you what you were doing. You’d have thought that he would have at least noticed something was up, by now.
You had almost reached right up next to him when Leo suddenly pulled away and wrapped one arm around you. He pulled you in closer until your head was practically resting on his chest and you looked up in surprise.
“You could have just said you wanted to,” Leo softly said, smiling. You ignored the loud heartbeat that filled your ears. Trying to stop the blush that was creeping on your face, you turned away and snuggled closer to him, draping his other arm over you, as well. You heard him lightly laugh and felt him kiss the top of your head.
“I bet Ken gets those, too.” You mumbled, feeling happy.
“What did you say?”
