Here's the thing, you can't tell the truth unless you can see it with your own eyes. To see is to believe right? Though, I'm not sure if that's applicable right now. Because seeing the real thing with my own eyes, I don't know if Will gave Ben a lesson in Face Transformation 101.
Will is the most shocked – like jaw dropping shocked – among us but there's something else. There's a gleam in his eyes like he finally found the end of a rainbow or the empire of bacon cheeseburgers. He almost looks exactly like Puss in Boots in the movie Shrek, with the kitten eyes – not the puppy eyes – when he's trying to be cute. He's totally frozen in his place. Right, I finally remember where I've seen that look. He's like the guy in the sappy romance movie where he's blinking slowly like an idiot and there's that slow-mo effect when he spots a girl who's stunningly pretty flipping her hair.
Okay, back to the real scenario.
This is Ben Fitzgerald?
Ben is clearly not an ugly nerdy guy who wears suspenders. Though, I think it looks great on a guy. Apparently, Ben failed to tell us she's a girl.
"You're Ben Fitzgerald?" Will asks still processing.
He must be regretting what he said earlier. Because Ben? She's a younger version of Jennifer Lawrence, not the fierce Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games, "If we burn, you burn with us!" but like the angelic version of her with short curly red hair and pinkish cheeks. She's two inches shorter than me as I'm five foot and four inches tall. She has the girly vibe like Kisses but with a hint of something else. An introvert maybe? But she's adorable.
She smiles hesitantly at him and a dimple appears on her left cheek. "Yes I am. I know I have a lot of explaining to do. Come on in first, I have snacks for you guys."
Will whispers beside me, "I think I'm in love with her."
We follow her to a cozy living room. Our steps echo on the floor and our eyes roam impressed with the vintage design of the house. It's similar to Park's house but much smaller. We all sit together on the couch. Ben sits on the opposite side.
An old woman appears from where must be the kitchen because she's carrying a tray. She smiles warmly at us as she places it on the table. "Help your selves," she says. She reminds me of my grandmother who never wants me to starve.
"Thank you Emma," Ben says warmly.
There's a huge plate of rich French pastries and cups of teas on the table. I'm afraid if they're even edible because they're better on display than eat them. Of course there's Will who knows no manners and attacks first like a Walker.
Ben clears her throat. "So uh... I don't know where to start," she says suddenly feeling unsure. Not used to a lot of people?
Park adjusts his glass. "How about the entries?"
"You're scaring her," Will says glaring at him then smiles at Ben. "Just relax Ben. We're to help you." He adds a wink to that.
He's not obvious. Kisses gags.
"I know and I'm so glad you all came. I'm sure it was difficult for you guys to find me as my entries are not so subtle."
"A bit but we have the best in the team," Park smiles.
What the f? Did Park just smile? He did! Park's usual expression is either smirking or not smirking. Smiling is not his forte. Dean chuckles silently beside me because he definitely saw that too.
She starts tapping softly on the arm of the couch. She's fidgeting. "I'm not used to this. I mean I'm not used to a lot of people so I-I'm sorry."
I guessed right.
