I had my hoodie on, phone in hand, and matchbox in pocket. What else did I need? Oh, yeah. Jake. It was almost 11:30 PM. Was he even going to make it?
Just as I finished my thoughts, my front door creaked open with Jake on the other side.
"You ready to go?" He asked.
"Yeah, you?"
"N-not really," Jake replied.
I rolled my eyes at Jake and walked past him to the porch. We headed down the street towards the school. I wasn't supposed to be there, but, at that moment, nobody could really stop me.
We reached the front doors and Jake looked hesitant.
"Come on, you dork," I teased.
I admit, I am a little mean to him, but it's too entertaining to stop.
We crept inside the main hall. There was a party going on in the gym. I cautiously led Jake up the stairs. Surprisingly, nobody was roaming around the halls.
Jake and I reached the track where we had laid firecrackers. I pulled out the matchbox and struck a match along the side to create the flame. I lit the tip of the firecracker. Then, we ran.
I heard the screams and pops as we raced down the stairs.
"This was a really bad idea, Alex," Jake fumed.
"I'm not done yet," I smirked as we flew out the doors.
I led him to the back of the school where the power cables were and got out my pliers. I snipped the thick one and the lights went out.
"This is how you crash a party," I smiled as I turned towards him.
I heard some murmuring in the distance and dropped the pliers. Jake and I booked it back to my house. I collapsed at my front porch.
"That was fun," I panted, attempting to laugh.
"That was not fun and I am never doing anything like that with you again!" Jake opposed.
"You sure?" I smiled
"Yes," he huffed as I stood up.
I laughed as I pulled him into my house. It's adorable when he's mad.
