The moonlight that night spilled through the slits of the billowing curtains, illuminating then all at once dimming the corridor again and again. A sillhoutte appeared, silent as a ghost, as she walked along the hallway, each footstep a heavy one. Though there was a certain grace in her frame, she was shivering upon closer look, perhaps from the breeze in the night or probably on her own reasons. Then again, she didn't hold the elegance she usually had, her hysteria slowly taking over her facade.

Outside a brass door, she stopped finally. She placed her hands on the handle but remained that way for nearly a whole minute, shuddering and taking in deep breathes.

The door merely creaked as it was pushed open. She hesitated, her eyes searching the room before she took the first, somewhat reluctant step in. There lay a king bed at the right of the room with a human sleeping. Every single step she took towards the sleeping soul seemed like eternal.

She watched him sleep for the second time. Perhaps, it would be the last too. His eyes which she had a certain infatuation with, his nose which nuzzled her hair ever so often, his lips which touched hers for the first time just days before; the memory of it all would end now.

Tears gathered in her eyes, close to spilling out. She clamped a hand over her mouth to stifle her gasps and sobs; if she had the voice, the entire castle would probably be awakened by her cries.

But that cannot happen. She glanced at the clock above.

12.00 a.m

There wasn't much time left. Shaking now, she reached beneath her cloak.

The dagger.

She choked and gasped, wishing she could stop herself, wishing there was a way, wishing for anything but this. But it was not to be.

Palms sweaty and shaking, she raised the dagger.

"Two beings from different worlds were not fated to be. And fate is not to be tampered with."

The deep voice of Hernia rang through her mind and she nearly dropped the dagger in shock.

"You have been warned, my dear."

Those words still remained clear. She shooked her head hard. "I know!" She screamed silently. "I know!"

"Love is strong. And you must prove. But you are playing against the heavens. And the cost shall be deadly."

She squeezed her eyes tight, trying to rid of the voice as tears fell like spring rain down her face. She knew. She knew it all. But wasn't love prove enough?

I love you.

She gasped sharply and her eyes flew open. The soothing sweet voice of his rang this time. She sobbed, staring at the peaceful face of his but her hand did not lower. I love you, were those words he once said to her.

I love you too. I'm sorry.

And she swung the dagger down.

Hi guys! Thanks for taking the time to read. This is my first work here so i hope you guys can go easy on me! You might think this sounded similar to the little mermaid. I'm actually writing this story based on EXO's "Baby, Don't Cry" which is based on the Grimm Brothers mermaid story. I thought it was beautiful so I decided to make EXO's version of the story out of it. So I hope you guys would like it too! Comments and criticisms are very much welcome. I have a lot to improve on my writing so please do give some feedbacks. Thanks y'all!!:)
