#22 The New Student

Courtney has just arrived to her new school. It was the middle of the semester and she didn't have a clue where to go and didn't know anyone there.

As she walked around the school and found her locker, she tried to put in her combination to unlock it.

"Okay. " Courtney breathed to herself. "26 left 09 right 12 left."

After turning it and attempting to put the combination code in, she yanked the lock but it didn't open.

"Ugh!" She grunted. Once again, she put the same exact code in and tried to unlock it but the lock wouldn't budge. "Great! How am I suppose to get my stuff in my locker now?"

"Need help?" An unfamiliar voice asked. Courtney turned around and saw a dark skinned boy with nose and cartilage piercing and bright blonde hair. A smile instantly appeared on Courtney's face as she admired his beauty.

"Uh... Uh, y-yeah. I can't g-get my locker open. " Courtney struggled to say.

Courtney never stuttered before, what makes today any different?

"What's the combination?" The guy asked as he grabbed ahold of the lock.

"Wait, I c-can't just go g-giving m-my pass code o-out like that. "

"Hey, do you want your locker opened or what?" The guy asked. Courtney nodded her head and told him the code.

"26-08-12" She said. The boy turned the lock and landed on each number perfectly. Before she knew it, he had unlocked her lock enabling her to open her locker. "Wow, thank you. "

"No problem. You must be new here. " He said.

"Y-yeah. " Courtney said placing her things in her locker.

"Oh well, my name is Craig but everyone here calls me Prodigy. " Prodigy said.

"Why do they call you that?" Courtney asked.

"I'm a singer. Well, not yet but, I can sing. And I plan on being one. " Prodigy explained.

"Oh." Courtney said as she held onto her notebook. They stood their awkwardly until Prodigy laughed breaking their silence.

"So are you going to tell me your name?" He chuckled.

"OH! Yeah, um my name is Courtney." Courtney blushed from embarrassment.

"Courtney? That name fits you beautifully. " Prodigy smiled. Even though Courtney kept her cool, she was slowly dying inside.

"T-thanks. "

"So, what's your first class? Maybe I can walk you there. " Prodigy said. Courtney gave him her schedule and he examined it.

"Cool, we have the same 1st period. Lets walk together. "

Courtney smiled so hard, Prodigy was sure she would break her face any minute now.

"O-okay."

Prodigy grabbed Courtney by her hand and they walked to class together. This could be the start of a new friendship. Maybe more.
