This is a Kuroshitsuji fanfic, actually. Just throwing that out there. If you're a fan of Kuroshitsuji, you'll pick up on that pretty quickly. I write a lot of these (for example, Human [Claude Faustus], Nasirah [Prince Soma], etc, as well as probably the prequel to this); I just wanted to try writing Southern Gothic Literature and decided this would be the best way.
At the time of writing this (or beginning to), I am on like Season 2 Episode 3 (and very confused as to why Lau is suddenly alive again), so if I mess up on something and you're a Kuroshitsuji Puritan, just relax and let me be. Chances are I'll fix it. Just roll with it here.
