HARRY'S POV
It felt weird to me that Scout had another guy asking where she was. I'm the only guy that knew her properly ten years ago. I guess it's just hard for me to accept that ten years is a lot of time for someone to change. The queue moved forwards once more before I got my number sticker. Marshalls dragged me away from Scout to interview me. I could barely hear what they were asking me but still managed to answer. It wasn't until they let me go that someone new had joined the group. A boy was standing next to Scout, arm around her shoulder protectively. He was average height, but quite a bit shorter than me. Scout was smiling at me as she shook Luke's arm off gently and ran over to me and I had to say it felt good.
'How'd it go?' Scout asked
'Oh they just asked some stupid questions about where I live.' I shrugged smiling at her, 'So how much have you grown since you were six.' Scout punched me lightly on the shoulder
'Shut up' she said, but she was smiling.
'We have so much to catch up on. What's been happening this last decade?' I asked, arm around her shoulder. I glanced at Luke quickly. His eyes were narrowed slightly at me, arms folded. Looking back at Scout, her face had fallen slightly.
'Actually it hasn't been so good.' I looked at her to go on, 'Well up until I met Luke, I was really depressed. In fact I would still be depressed if it wasn't for him.' I was supposed to be the one to look out for Scout, I was the only one that knew her well enough, 'But, there was an incident.' Scout went on. From the tone of her voice I could tell something bad had happened. 'There was this guy, Tyler, he threatened me and-' Scout stopped but looked at me, her eyes explaining.
'He didn't' I gasped, shocked. Scout nodded, my eyes went to Luke. He was no longer looking at us. He let this happen and still had the indecency to come to England with her. Scout’s hand squeezing mine brought my focus slowly back to her.
‘It wasn’t his fault, there was nothing he could do.’ I nodded, she always could read my thoughts. I forced a smile as we made our way back over to the group.
LUKE’S POV
I felt really out of place. Everyone was standing in a circle and I was sort of left out. Scout looked the happiest she had ever looked, Harry’s arm slung carelessly over her shoulders. They looked right together, like they were made for each other. I didn’t fit in here, I was from the other side of the world, I didn’t belong. See, everyone here knew Scout; they had been told about her. Harry and her were childhood sweethearts from the sounds of things. I was just the kid who had helped her, got her back on her feet. I was the one who was helping her through her depression, helping her through anorexia, where was this kid the past ten years. I wanted to hit myself, he was there for her for the toughest years of her life, he didn’t have a choice. I knew neither of us were the bad guy, but that didn’t stop the stab of pain when I left the building. It wasn’t the leaving that hurt, it was that Scout didn’t say goodbye, the she didn’t even notice I had left.
SCOUT’S POV
We waited for almost two hours. Harry’s arm was around me for the whole of that as I nestled into his side, I dazed off as the other’s talked about Harry’s singing and various other things. I think Harry was in a daze too as he didn’t say much.
Everyone was still chattering about something else when I looked up at Harry.
‘I haven’t heard you sing since we used to duet to we are the cheeky girls (LOOK IT UP GUYS).’ I smiled up at him. He squeezed me and laughed.
‘Those we the days-‘ he said, looking down at me. Just when I thought he was about to burst into a rendition of the song, a lady with a name badge saying ‘Claire’ called his name. Harry’s family began talking more excitedly as Claire led Harry backstage, the rest of us following. Harry arm was pulled from my shoulder as people swarmed around him, talking to him and handing him a microphone. We could hear someone singing on stage, to me they sounded pretty good. We were ushered right up to the stairs which lead to the stage. I looked back over my shoulder for Luke, but he had gone. As the rest of the group went to stand with the show’s presenter, Dermot O’Leary, I pulled out my phone. I had a text from Luke. I looked up at Harry, bless him he looked nervous. He caught my eye and gave me the thumbs up. I smiled at mouthed good luck and he nodded. My eyes went back to my phone.
I’ve gone back to the hotel.

It was brief and had no feeling behind it which was weird for Luke. I knew he was annoyed at me, probably for spending all day with Harry. To be honest I thought he would understand. I was too caught up in my anger with Luke to realise that Harry had gone onto stage, Harry had talked to the judges and now Harry was singing.
‘Isn’t she lovely,’ The words echoed through the arena meeting my ears. His voice was rocky and deep. Perfect. Anne’s hands were clasped as I slowly joined the group, I watched Harry on the screen. Forgetting completely about Luke.
‘Isn’t she wonderful?
Isn’t she precious?
Less than one minute old.’
The judges were looking at Harry with interest.
‘And I never thought through love we’d be
Making one as lovely as she
But isn’t she lovely made from love.’
Harry’s last note wavered beautifully in the air. He hadn’t sung to any music, he didn’t need it. He nodded slightly and wet his lips with his tongue. There was silence in the air before everyone burst into applause. The judges all nodded their approval. One judge after the other gave him their vote as the people around me cheered and smiled I looked at the screen at the curly haired boy who was smiling back at me. Before I knew it Harry was running off stage into my arms. I held him tightly and he hugged me back as everyone awed at us. Just before we pulled away Harry whispered in my ear.
‘So, how was it?’
‘Meh- I still prefer the cheeky girls.’ Harry tickled me until I squealed and then was engulfed in a hug by a hysterical Anne.
