The Prologue
A red dragon soared through the mountains, his crimson scales reflected the sunlight. And his massive wings, as silver as the moonlight itself, had three-claws on them. A trait that all FireFlight members had, and they beat with impressive power. His claws shared the same silver coloration. He also had the tell-tale FireFlight zygomatic spines, and two curved spikes coming from the end of his tail. His small golden horns swung with his head as he surveyed the land, for he was looking for any prey to bring back to his flight, called FireFlight. They were running low. The male dragon spotted a large, plump cow, and swooped in for the kill.
SilverShreik looked over the caldera, he saw the Hunting Hoard towards the middle of the area, where he stood. Behind that, he saw the Dragonet Dens, where the younger dragons slept. To the right of that, were the Adult Dens, where the young adults slept. About a tail-length to the left of the Dragonet Dens were the Wyrm Dens, only the oldest dragons lived there.
"Hey, SilverShreik, isn't your dad cool?" Asked VengenceTail.
"I mean, it makes you the heir to FireFlight!" VengenceTail added. SilverShreik froze up.
"Don't remind me." He croaked. "I am so not ready to lead the Flight, because I don't know how I would protect the Flight from intruders: OceanFlight, CavernFlight, and BreezeFlight. BreezeFlight especially." Said SilverShriek, listing off the names of the opposing Flights.
VengenceTail snickered, "You? Scared of the other Flights? Yeah, when SilverFlight returns!" She laughed. SilverShriek chuckled along, trying to agree, but he truly knew he couldn't, he was truly scared. They heard a roar from behind. Magmaborn roared.
SilverShreik found himself on patrol, his least favorite job, along with his two best friends, VengenceTail, and HeatHunter. HeatHunter was a light orange dragon, with maroon stripes down his back. His horns were a dark maroon, and slightly curved. Donning the classic FireFlight symbols as well. His wings were a pinkish white color underneath, and he donned eight spikes on the end of his tail. They were a simple white. As they were flying, they spotted something.... Odd..
"You guys, how did that rock get here? Is that even a rock? It looks white..." HeatHunter pointed out.
"I see it too, but wait..... That's not a rock! That's a dragon!" VengenceTail almost yelled. The trio swooped down to meet them.
"STATE YOUR FLIGHT!" They all ordered at once.
"Well, not FireFlight, you aren't red." Said SilverShreik "You have wings, so not OceanFlight or CavernFlight." Added HeatHunter.
"But you are pure white, with long fangs, have fur, and two extra sails on your tail! So you aren't BreezeFlight!" VengenceTail listed. "So the only other choices would be..." She stopped.
"One of the final choices would be correct." She hissed. "SilverFlight."
No dragon spoke a word. They all exchanged glances that said things like; This has to be a joke! SilverFlight and DeekFlight haven't been around since before we were born! But what if...
"Listen up, punks! There are things in this world that you would NEVER understand! So yes, I am a SilverFlight, and this is my, egg, which is ALSO a SilverFlight, in case you couldn't get THAT through your thick skulls." The white dragon sighed. Whispering words to herself that they could only catch a few of.
A little louder, she grumbled, "Alright, my egg." She pulled a pure silver egg from behind her.
"I believe it would be... Safer with your Flight. Unfortunately, I'm not quite sure I should leave my child with you... you... Boneheads!" She growled.
"What do you mean, Leave it with us?" HeatHunter asked.
"What I mean, is that my Flight is dying! I would like to allow my child at least a SLIGHT chance at survival!" The dragon hissed, and shoved the egg into the trio's talons. "Just take it! I won't be able to mourn, once I die!" She grumbled solemnly.
"Take it to your leader! He'll know what to do!" Then she flew away.
They just sat there in confusion, what had they just gotten into?
MagmaBorn had not asked any questions.
"Father, on our patrol we found what seems to be a lost egg."
"Alright, put it into the hatchery." As if he had been expecting it.
And he was.
