Elliot's POV
The rain gently came down the window as we drove, it was calming my nerves. But at the same time the tingles shooting up my arm from Hayes' hand wrapped around mine did not help. We had been driving for while and I knew by now that we were not going back to Mooresville. I knew where we were going though, it was Hayes and I's place. We had been coming here once a month each summer. The beach house had been where it all began, sure it was around three hours from the airport but it was worth it. We pulled up at the house and as Hayes took the keys out of his car we sat in silence for a few moments. I could feel his eyes on me as I stared, the rain now cleared and the night sky illuminating over the water that was visible behind the house. "Its been forever." I said as I watched the house. "It has been for me too." I turned to him with confusion at his words. "What do you mean?"
"Let's just get inside and then we can talk." He said with a ghost of a smile leaving the car. Following, I went around to the truck of the car where Hayes was already pulling out my suit case along with a suit case of his own. Laughter puffed in his lungs as he looked at my face, bringing me into a side hug and kissing the top of my head. "How did you know I would agree to come?" I asked sitting on Hayes' because in the attic. "I didn't, I just hoped you would." He said turning to me with a smirk causing me to roll my eyes. "Still cocky as ever Grier." I sighed. "Still beautiful as ever Espinosa." He replied, pink rising in my cheeks as I turned away from him. The bed sunk in front of me and Hayes' face appeared in front of mine. It wasn't the face that I wanted though, instead of happy he looked sad. "So, who goes first?" I sighed knowing that either way it wouldn't matter to me, I had told people everything a few times by now and it didn't bother me anymore. "You first." He said playing absentmindedly with my fingers. I launched into the story that I had told Johnson and Carson and Skylar. When I finished he hugged me, keeping me in place as he stroked my hair. "Im so sorry Gracie." He whispered. "I know, me too. I forgive you, I just hope you can forgive me too." I said with a tear. "Why are you sorry? You didn't do anything." He said with a chuckle, pulling away and then taking his thumbs and wiping the tears from my eyes. "Yes I did, I Left, and to top it off I was a total bitch to you. You didn't know it was me." I said, he drew me back into a hug stroking my hair again. "You had a reason though, If I were in your shoes I probably would have done the same thing okay? So don't worry about it." I nodded into his chest and then sniffled wiping my eyes with the backs of my hands. "Your turn." I said calmed down. "Okay," He sighed starting. "After you left, I completely zoned out the first few months. I didn't sleep and barely ate. My mom dad had been to the point of saying that they were going to put me in therapy and then the guys came to me. I hadn't seen most of them, even Nash, in the longest of times. He had moved out to California with Cam and when Magcon split it was very rare for me to see the guys altogether. Carter had recovered about a week after the accident from his coma and his mom had been looking after him like a hawk. The thing that most surprised me was Matt, he looked almost the same as me and It was noticeable that he didn't want to be there, like me he didn't want to do anything anymore. And you know what they told me?" He looked back to me with his eyes sparkling. I shook my head no and he put a piece of my hair behind my
ear. "They stood in front of Matt and I who had been sat on the bed beside me, and said, "Sitting here and moaping over Grace is not going to bring her back. Im sorry if that's what you were hoping for, but you need to wake up and smell the damn roses, because we're all sick of this. Hayes mom says you haven't came out of this room in weeks and Matt the same for you, why would you moap around when you could be looking for Gracie right now? Come on guys enough is enough, so you can take it or leave it but if you want Grace back you need to get up get in the shower and start looking!" I looked at Hayes with shock written on my face. "So I did, I went with the guys on tour and every stop I looked for you. Matt did too, we were both so broken, but we knew we had both done it to ourselves. After a few months Matt met Leioni, and it was like a part of that hole was filled, but that hole is still there, we all notice it. The guys notice it more in me though, I changed and so did you. I looked, and looked, and looked for you and when I was about ready to give up I finally found you. And Gracie im not losing you again, that is a promise." He finished and I put my head on his shoulder, his arm snaking around my figure. "I love you." I whispered barely loud enough for him to hear, but I knew he did. "I love you too, so, so, much." He replied placing his head on top of mine. We sat like that for a while just keeping the moment. I stood up holding his hand and bringing him with me as I grabbed a blanket and handing him two pillows, placing out phones in my back pockets. "Where are we going?" He asked as I handed the pillows to him. "Well you brought me to the beach house, we do have to keep tradition you know even if it has been two years." I said with a smile and he kissed my cheek. I led us to the balcony and then hoisted myself onto the roof, Hayes handing the pillows and blankets up and then coming up and sitting next to me. We layed back like old times, my head on his chest as he messed with my brown locks. "What did you mean when you said its been forever for you too?" I asked leaning up on my elbow and looking at him. "I haven't came back here since the last time I was here with you. This was our place, it didn't feel right coming back without you." He said with a smile his thumb moving  back and forth on my cheek. I missed this, the little moments. I layed back on his chest after that as we watched the sun set over the horizon line. "Hayes?" I asked after a while. "Yes baby?" He asked me, I wasn't sure if we were still together but by the way he was acting I was guessing so. "Can I ask you another question?"
"Of course, what is it?" He replied. "How did you know I was going to run?" I said looking at him, up on my elbow again. "I had help, but I know you Grace, and you weren't getting away that easily." A blush ran through my cheeks and I found myself leaning down towards Hayes. My lips brushed his as the sun hit its last vibrant rays on the ocean.
