Maddie's POV
It was around 7:00 in the morning when I woke up.I reluctantly got up from bed and brushed my teeth.I slowly dragged my feet downstairs to see my dad already awake, drinking coffee which is not usual on a Saturday morning as he comes home late from work.

"Good morning" I said as I went to the kitchen to make myself some coffee.
"Good morning pumpkin! So... Did you have fun yesterday in school?"he asked.I narrowed my eyes at him."Yes dad I did have fun.So what's wrong. You know you can tell me anything right?"
"What? Pfft!! It's nothing really." He replies attempting to be nonchalant.

I saw him looking everywhere else but me and his eyes told me that he was nervous.
"Come on dad. Your struggling to tell me something.Spill."I said. I walked up to him and sat down.

" Oh!You know me so well. Its freaky sometimes the way you can understand me" he said.
I smiled. "Oh dad, anyone can understand you, you are like an open book. Now tell me what's bothering you"
"Oh pumpkin! You know since, your mother passed away.........." I felt a sudden pain in my chest and I blinked back the tears that were threatening to spill out. My father's eyes welled up with tears and he seemed hesitant. So I urged him to complete the rest.
"Since your mother passed away, I've decided that it would be best if we moved out of town for a while..."

I look at my dad for a while before contemplating if his idea would work. It's obvious he wants me to move on considering how I've been shutting everyone out since she left. Maybe a fresh start is what I need, but I'm not sure I can simply move on. I decide it's worth a shot.
"Maybe that's what we need..."
