Maddie's POV
It was around 7:00 in the morning when I woke up.I reluctantly got up from bed and brushed my teeth.I slowly dragged my feet downstairs to see my dad already awake, drinking coffee which is not usual on a Saturday morning as he comes home late from work."Good morning" I said as I went to the kitchen to make myself some coffee.
"Good morning pumpkin! So... Did you have fun yesterday in school?"he asked.I narrowed my eyes at him."Yes dad I did have fun.So what's wrong. You know you can tell me anything right?"
"What? Pfft!! It's nothing really." He replies attempting to be nonchalant.I saw him looking everywhere else but me and his eyes told me that he was nervous.
"Come on dad. Your struggling to tell me something.Spill."I said. I walked up to him and sat down." Oh!You know me so well. Its freaky sometimes the way you can understand me" he said.
I smiled. "Oh dad, anyone can understand you, you are like an open book. Now tell me what's bothering you"
"Oh pumpkin! You know since, your mother passed away.........." I felt a sudden pain in my chest and I blinked back the tears that were threatening to spill out. My father's eyes welled up with tears and he seemed hesitant. So I urged him to complete the rest.
"Since your mother passed away, I've decided that it would be best if we moved out of town for a while..."I look at my dad for a while before contemplating if his idea would work. It's obvious he wants me to move on considering how I've been shutting everyone out since she left. Maybe a fresh start is what I need, but I'm not sure I can simply move on. I decide it's worth a shot.
"Maybe that's what we need..."
