The Button

Chapter: 10 April Fools Day!

It was the middle of the night. Everyone was sleeping. Everyone, except for Jack. Jack was tiptoeing around, crouching down every moment to place objects that could not be seen in the dark.

"No, not there, not here... aha!" He kept whispering as his friends kept snoozing. Jack kept laying down invisible objects until he accidentally stepped on a twig.

"Snap!" The twig broke in half, Jack held his breath as Jane started shifting uncomfortably. Her hand reached out to touch one of the objects. Jack lunged to grab her hand as it came dangerously near it. He sighed in relief as she turned away from the object. "Everything has to happen exactly the same. Or else" He shuddered, "My life will be ruined. Tomorrow would be the day. The day everyone fears me. The day I shall rule!!!" He cackled and looked at the button, which was surprisingly, cracked and broken again.

Slither suddenly twitched. Jack held his breath, then relaxed as the lizard human stopped moving. He was about to turn around when the lizard woke up. 

"Jack?" He yawned. "What are yo-" He was cut off as Jack shot at him and covered his mouth.

"Mrrrphh!!!!" Slither screamed through his hands.

"Shhh!!!"

"Mrph?"

Jack whispered to him what this was all about. Slither's expression changed from scared to excited.

"But shouldn't you tell the readers what is going on?" He asked.

"Huh?"

"I-I mean!!" Slither stopped himself. "Shouldn't you set this up tomorrow?"

"There wouldn't be enough time tomorrow. And besides, this button had some more wishes to use. Sure, its cracked now, but there's still one more wish you can make. And I think I'm going to leave that wish to you"

"Really?" Slithers eyes widened.

"Come on dude, wish for a superpower. Something unique. something cool!"

Confidently, Slither strode forward, and pressed the already cracked red button. "I wish for Telekinesis powers!"

Tom and Jane woke up the other day. They both yawned and sat up, only to scream as they were dragged up a rope passing through a forest of trees.

"OH MY GOD WHAT IS GOING ON!!!?????!!!!!" Jane screamed as they repeatedly slammed into canopies of leaves.

"CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHAT HAS HAPPENED WITH THIS WORLD????" Tom was flung upside down, spun round and round, and was pelted by branches and leaves.

The two finally landed in a water puddle. Where they stood there in utter shock.

"W-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-wh-at?" Tom unintelligibly stammered.

"My clothes are s-s-soaked!" Jane shivered from the cold water.

They both looked at Jack, a murderous look on their faces.

"What?" Jack asked innocently.

"I'm gonna- AAAAAAAAAHH!!!!!!!!" as they were flung into the air once more as Jack started laughing hysterically. This time, the two were immediately flung into a cave with a small waterfall and a pool. 

"Wh-hat is this place?" Tom and Jane both tried to sit up and look around. Jane took one step and was stopped as dozens of toy snakes popped up from the darkness of the caves.

"AHHHH!!!!!!!!" They both took a step back, right into the waterfall.

As both of them crawled back onto land, Tom's hand touched a tripwire, triggering a wooden trunk to come swinging from a rope and rapidly enclosing towards them.

Jane nimbly flew away to safer ground.

Tom supercrawled away from the giant wooden hammer.

"Missed!" They both taunted Jack.

"Oh really?"

Suddenly, the ground beneath both of them collapsed.

"JAAAAAAAAAAAACKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Both of them screamed.

Jack and Slither couldn't stop laughing.

Jane hovered out of the pit and came zooming towards Jack with her dagger in her hand.

"Stopstopstopstopstop!!!" Jack held out his hand. "Whats the date?"

"April 1st" Tom muttered. "We've been tricked!"

"Your lucky it was April Fools day!" Jane punched Jack in the arm. "Or I would've turned you into a shish kebab!"

"Hello? Can someone get me out?" Tom called, from the pit. "Superspeed will not let me climb these walls"

Slither looked at Tom. Suddenly, his eyes glowed with a purple light.

Jane gasped in shock as Tom started glowing too.

"What?" As Tom was lifted out of the pit by invisible hands.

"Uhhh" Jane pondered. "Another April Fools Joke?"

"I wish" Jack laughed. "I used the last of the button's power to give Slither telekinesis"

"The last of its power?"

"Oh, you know, it recharged overnight as you said, so I just summoned everything I needed to make the traps for April Fools Day! It did waste all of its power though"

"Jaack" Tom did a facepalm.

"You really take this April Fools Day very seriously, don't you" Jane demanded.

"It's not about April Fools Day!" Tom snapped. "Within a few more weeks, we might have been able to undo the bad guy wish! And now we have to wait all over again!"

"Hey, April Fools Day is life, its the highlight of everyone's year, It's the meaning of l-"

"Ok we get it!" Jane snapped.

"But guys, I'm a monster, If you delete the wish, I might disappear!" Slither chattered nervously.

"Didn't we bring you along just because you could help us find the great lord Legos?" Jane cracked her knuckles and smiled. "Another punching bag!"

"NOnono!! Please! I have p-p-powers too!" Slither's eyes glowed purple again. Jane started to fly to him, but suddenly stopped as she started glowing.

"Hey! What?" As Slither set her back onto land.

"Slither will not be your punching bag" Tom grabbed Jane's hand. "We're friends now. He helped us, and we should help him by not beating him up after he helped"

"Awww...."

"I guess now Slither can't trust Jane very much, can he?"

"I cant even fly when Slither telekinesis'es me. Unfair"

"I guess you can say that Jane is pretty "Down" now!" Slither smiled.

Tom released Jane's hand. "Slither is now your punching bag, Jane" He announced.

"No! Please I'm sorry!"

"No more puns. At least, for the day"

Slither nodded.

"Alright, off to nowhere we go!" Jack cried happily.

"Not exactly off to nowhere. Just away from Lord Cheetos and his army" Tom glanced at the rising sun. "We should head north. Creos and his army is in south, so if we just follow the sun, we can get as far away from them as possible. Until the button can undo the wish, we should try not to confront any monsters"

"But I'm a monster too!" Slither protested.

"Its alright. It'll take a long time for the button to recharge. We can think of something until then.

And so the four headed north, into the unknown.

WILL JACK, JANE, AND TOM STOP CALLING LORD CREOS NAMES?!?!?

WILL SLITHER STOP BEING SO STUPID AND ALMOST REVEAL THAT THEY ARE IN A BOOK?????
