Don't You See Me?

I am standing at your side,

But you don't see me.

Am I a ghost to you?

Do I even exist in your eyes?

I used to dance in your iris,

Fill your sight like the ocean.

Now I am barely a droplet

Just clinging on to you.

You don't bother to look for me

But when I enter the vision of another

For a heartbeat I am the ocean again

Before I fade out to a droplet once more.

Don't you see me there?

Don't you see me at your side?

My mind trying to enter yours

So you could hear my cries.

Why do I stay in your shadow?

You blot out my sun,

Make my world cold.

Bringing darkness only.

I try to step away

Into the sunlight again

But that's when you see me

When I am far away.

I want to be that ocean,

Swallow up your heart and soul.

But that is not what I am.

I am the wind; wild and free.
