Kenzie:

Kenzie sat around the makeshift dinner table with everyone else. Laid along the table was an assortment of sandwhiches. All ranging from ham and cheese to tuna melts.

Along with the sandwhiches, Bronson and Oshea managed to find chips. And in the fridge, some dip. Delance found some candles in the closet from halloween while Josh found a lighter. They placed the candles around the room to illuminate some places.

After returning from the security room, Jeremy explained to everyone what he had found. He said he would go back later on tonight to check if anyone was out there who could help.

Kenzie nodded along with everyone else and took a biter out of her tuna melt. "Who's going with you?" Kenzie asked.

Jeremy blinked and answered, "Noone. I don't want any of you to get hurt."

Teah shook her head, her dark hair flowing with her. "And what if you get hurt? What if you get attacked by one of those... Things?"

Kenzie agreed with Teah. Although she said it in the worst possible way, she was still right. "Yeah. Why don't we set up teams or something like that?"

Jeremy seemed to ponder for a moment and got up. He walked to the white board and wrote the numbers One through four.

"Alright," Jeremy said. "Let's establish a schedule of sorts." Under group one he wrote one, he wrote the Bronson and Oshea. Under group two he wrote Delance, Josh and Zach. Under group three he wrote Nick, Taylen and Teah. And under group four he wrote Kenzie and himself.

Kenzie reached over for some chips and stole Josh's sandwhich. She leaned back aginst her chair and took a sip of water.

"Simple. As we sleep," Jeremy continued. "Each team can stay up and take watch while the rest sleep. If something goes wrong or something feels off, whoever's up, just has to wake the others. Then we evacuate into the practice rooms." He motioned to the empty rooms that they used to use for practice.

Kenzie and the rest of the group nodded until Josh raised his hand, his dark brown eyes reflecting the light of the candles. "What about our families?"

Kenzie's heart dropped. Kalei... She forgot about her own brother. Amomgst everything that's happened, she forgot her own brother. She dropped her sandwich and looked around.

Jeremy stared back at her, "Kenz?... You alright?..."

She took a shaky breath and stood up, "M-my brother... K-Kalei."

After dinner, she stood next to the sink as Jeremy washed the dishes. It was her job to dry the dishes, and her eyes.

Every once in a while her eyes would water and she would force a curse out of her mouth and wipe the tear away.

As soon as the thought hit her earlier, she began bawling. She forgot her own brother. What if he was out there? What if he was in trouble?

One thing was for sure, he wasn't dead. She could feel it. He's strong. He'll get through this. She kept telling herself that.

Jeremy layed a hand on her shoulder. "He's alright Kenzie. I can feel it. There's no way a bunch of stupid monsters can hurt him." he smiled at her.

Kenzie nodded and smiled back. She wiped the tear that was forming in her eyes, and went back to wiping the dishes. "Are we gonna be ok?" she asked.

She could hear Jeremy sigh next to her. "I... Honestly don't know."

Kenzie nodded and kept wiping the dishes. "We're all counting on you you know," she said. "I know your only our Drum Major... But they need someone as a backbone. I mean look at them."

She turned and looked at everyone. In the dark she could see Nick and Taylen holding each other. They were smiling as Delance was trying to imitate what seemed to be a fish. Kenzie guessed thst they were playing charades. She saw Brea yelling "Crocodile!" and Bronson laughing.

It was a happy moment within the darkness. But Kenzie had a strange feeling that everything would work themselves out.

"Why don't you join them?" Jeremy asked. He smiled at her and went back to washing the dishes. "I got this. Go have fun."

Kenzie smiled and nodded. She ran over to join in the fun.

***

Kenzie and Jeremy had the first watch while everyone else slept. Jeremy sat by the door, ear pressed against the door listening for any sound of help. Kenzie sat against the back wall. The sound of the rain on the roof was strangely calming, considering it was a storm.

She smiled to herself and looked at everyone sprawled across the floor. They looked so tired and scared in their sleep. She turned and looked at the door to one of the practice rooms. The one Angel was now rotting in. She sighed internally and said a silent prayer for him.

Kenzie sat back against the chair and slumped down. She looked up at the ceiling and started counting the tiles along the top of the roof.

She started to feel her eyes start to shut. In a matter of seconds, she fell into a deep sleep.

***

Kenzie opened her eyes to a bright green meadow. She sat up and stretched. She looked around and saw tall trees and flower bushes.

Where am I? She thought to herself. She got up and walked to a small picnic table. Along the top of the table were plates filled with food and drinks.

She sat down and rubbed her eyes. She opened her eyes and Kalei sat across of her. She shouted out loud and fell backwards.

Kenzie stood up and brushed the dirt off her clothes. "Thanks a lot Kalei," she muttered.

Kalei laughed his low laugh and smiled at her. Kenzie looked at her brother and started to cry. She never felt so close to someone, but so far away from them at the same time.

She knew deep down inside that this was all a dream, but she couldn't help but wish this warm peaceful meadow was real.

She opened her teary eyes and saw that Kalei was gone. The once sunny sky was covered in dark gray rainclouds. Rain started to pour down and drenched her clothes.

She got up and ran to the nearest tree, trying to escape the rain. She huffed and puffed air and leaned against a tree.

"Your strong Kenzie," Kalei said appearing next to her.

Kenzie jumped and almost fell again. But Kalei continued. "Your special Kenzie. Your strong. I know you can get through this. You just have to believe in yourself." He smiled and ruffled her hair. "Now," He slapped the back of he head. "Wake up!

***

Kenzie woke up on the ground. With a giant pain growing in the back of her head. She rubbed her head and sat up. She fell out of her chair when she fell asleep.

Jeremy smiled at her from across the room and shook his head. "Why don't you get some sleep?"

Kenzie nodded and layed across the cold floor and shut her eyes. Kalei's words echoed through out her mind. I'm stong, and I'm coming for you Kalei.
