Chapter 7

Michael's POV

6:29

I glared at my alarm clock, silently debating whether or not to let it go off at 6:30 or turn it off now. If I turned it off it would not wake up the rest of my family, or I could let it go off and wake everyone else up. This is a hard decision I thought. Then I remembered the mood my dad and brother were in last night and decided not to push it today. Hitting the alarm just as it changed to 6:30, I got out of bed and headed to my closet to get clothes for today.

I could hardly sleep last night. I kept waking up, worried I would over sleep and be late picking up Ivy at 8. As I threw a plain white shirt on and an old faded pair of jeans, I grabbed my phone and sent a quick text to Ivy.

Good morning! Headed out to get coffee in a bit. See you at 8! I tossed my phone on my bed and headed into the bathroom to brush my teeth. After finishing my daily routine, I grabbed a pair of Nikes and headed downstairs. Connor was already up and sitting at the table, frantically writing. Ha. Look who forgot to do their homework last night. Serves him right. I thought as I glanced over his shoulder to see him writing down an answer for a math problem.

I looked over the problem and saw that he had gotten the problem wrong. I snickered and reached over his shoulder. "I think you meant to write 86 not -102." He looked over the problem then erased his answer, murmuring thanks as he fixed his answer. "No problem, dude," I said as I headed to the fridge. I grabbed the carton of orange juice, glanced at the doorway to make sure mom wasn't coming down, then quickly drank from the carton.

I put the top back on and put the carton back. As I turned, Connor was looking at me with an eyebrow raised. "Hey I fixed your math problem. Now you keep your mouth shut and don't tell mom or I'll tell you the wrong answer next time," I said. We had a silent stare down before he turned back to his work, cursing under his breath. Winner! I smiled triumphantly as I grabbed my bag and phone, glancing at the clock. 7:00. "See you later, man" I called as I walked out to the truck. Tossing my stuff in the truck bed, I hopped in the truck, rolling down the windows and cranking the music up. I started beating on the steering wheel to the music as I drove through the neighborhood.

Yeah, when I first saw that bikini top on her

She's poppin' right out of the South Georgia water

Thought, "Oh, good lord, she had them long tanned legs!"

Couldn't help myself so I walked up and said

Baby you a song

You make me wanna role my windows down and cruise

Down a back road blowin' stop signs through the middle

Every little farm town with you

In this brand new Chevy with a lift kit

Would look a hell of a lot better with you up in it

So baby you a song

You make me wanna roll my windows down and cruise

The song continued as I drove towards Starbucks. Cruise was one of my favorite songs so I happily sang along, badly off pitch, but it was still fun. When I pulled up to Starbucks, I turned the truck off, jumping out and heading inside. The line was fairly short, so I texted Nick while I waited. Hey man, did you get her address? Within a matter of seconds my phone buzzed.
