The trees whirled past like a cyclone as we speed down the wide road leading into a canopy of trees. I glanced at the driver who never tore his eyes away from the road for a second.

I gave a bored sigh then continued to look out the window. the window slid down, the cool country air pouring into the car. the scent made me smile.

"Sorry miss" the driver said, his eyes glued to the road as he pushed a button making the window go up

A frown appeared on my face, I was missing the country scent already. after another small sigh I pulled my iPod out of my bag and listened to music.

We pulled into the drive about half an hour later. I saw grandpa standing at the gate waiting. The car hasn't even stopped before I was out and running towards grandpa.

"Hello Hannah" he laughed into my hair once I was snuggled safely into his chest

I didn't say anything just continued to hug him. I finally stepped back and put a cheesy grin on my face and looked up at my grandfather. His hair was becoming more grey and his age lines were becoming deeper but his eyes were full of spirit.

"Lets get your bags and go in aye?" he said picking up a suitcase and walking towards the homestead

I smiled then grabbed my backpack and ran after him. I dumped it all into my room then Kicked my trainers off and threw them in a random place. I sat on the bed, jumping up and down slightly. Wow my room is so clean! I pulled the blankets back to make it messy then threw my pillows around my room. There much more like me.

I walked into the hallway on my way to my second bedroom, the kitchen, but stopped at the office to speak to grandpa.

"So how was boarding school?" he asked without looking up from his calculator

"Yeah it was good!" I said enthusiastically "even better now that I don't have to go back"

"Remember it's only a test run for six months" he warned

Because we live in a station in Northern Australia, about 150km to the nearest town, I had to go to a boarding school but we finally got a satellite for a school of the air program.

"Yeah yeah yeah I know" I nodded

"Where you off to?" he asked

"Where do you reckon?" I asked cheekily

"The kitchen?"

"Yep"

"Jack?" a familiar voice rang though the house

I thought about it for a moment but then continued to eat the ice-cream. I could her muffled voices from inside the office

"Is Hannah home?" the voice asked

"Oh yeah she just arrived she's in the-" I heard grandad say but his voice was drowned out by the spun of running footsteps echoing through the house.

"Hannah!"the familiar voice exclaimed

"CHASE!" I screamed

He opened his arms as I ran and jumped into then. I wrapped my legs around his waist as he hugged me laughing into my hair.

"How have you been?" he asked once I stood on my own two feet

"Better now" I said with a smile

He just laughed and gave me a light punch in the arm. I admit it since we started dating it was slightly awkward. Chase's dad, Cameron was grandad's lead station manager so Chase has been here since he was four and I came two years later, we started a friendship then a year ago his friend talked him into asking me out.
